The food was just standard food service level you could get at any chain or hotel restaurant. The flavors were a bit plain as we commented on the lack of spices. And the atmosphere was that of a loud pub. The server was great. We...wouldn’t eat here again.More

None of the staff members seemed very welcoming when we arrived. We had a reservation, but they had to put us somewhere else due to our table not being ready. Our server Larissa (based on the name on our bill) never introduced herself, never told...us the specials for the day, seemed irritated that we had questions about the menu, never smiled or seemed to enjoy serving us. However, the next 2 groups that sat next to us she smiled, introduced herself, told them the specials for the day, we already ordered, seemed happy to serve both tables. It was loud, noisy, and the table she seemed to enjoy serving were loud, rude, and cursing every other word many in the dining room finished fast and left because of how loud and rude they were being. In my opinion food was below average, scallops ok, lobster tails so so, rice not fully cooked still hard, risotto very soggy and very strong lemon flavor no hint of Parmesan as listed on the menu. Would have ordered more drinks and dessert, but Larissa was so welcoming and more worried about her other tables she lost a generous tip and the restaurant lost out on at least another $100 or more in sales.More

The place improved since the last time I've been here. Still has its Ostrich Steak Staple but other menu items have changed and improved. Stopped by for dinner on Monday night. Sat at the table near the bar. I was surprised to see how packed...it was even on Monday night. The food was immaculate. On a simpler side but immaculate, but Venison and Octopus were done to perfection (in my experience that's rare). My daughter finished her burger and then decided to do the same with our mussels. Threw me for a second but that was some vote of taste this place received.More

Great local restaurant with excellent beer selection and even better food! The mussels are a must as an appetizer, save the table bread to dip in the juice. The short rib was fantastic and the creme brulee was one of the best i've ever had.

Was excited to have dinner here again. Ordered the veal medallions with mashed potatoes instead of the barley. What was suppose to be a bourbon and fig Demi sauce tasted just like barbecue sauce. Barbecue sauce on veal and mashed potatoes. Ugh. I ordered the...arugula salad which was wilted and had no taste. Totally dissatisfied. Waitress was terrific.More

My daughter and I had a wonderful meal while visiting Muhlenberg College. I was concerned because several reviewers recently said the place had lost quality in the last year or so. I’m a bit of a foodie so was hoping not to be disappointed -...and we weren’t! The decor is lovely and relaxing - even though the place was completely full we never felt overwhelmed by noise or by crowding. The bread and olive oil at the beginning suggested great quality to follow. Wonderful flavor and irresistible. We had the chicken dumpling appetizer - the filling could have used some textural interest and a bit more flavor but with the sauce and unique crispy but not oily wrapper they were still enjoyable. Our entrees were both amazing - I had the duck breast and my daughter has the filet mignon - both more than ample servings with perfectly balanced sides. My 17 year old daughter ordered a Shirley Temple and for the first time I understood the appeal of that drink - it was really good! I had a cocktail that our wonderful, friendly, skillful server suggested and it was delightful. We’ve already added this restaurant to the ‘plus column’ on my daughter’s college decision list. Thank you for a lovely evening.More

We have gone to Grille 3501 for a very long time. We have previously enjoyed the quieter dining, excellent meals, and stellar service. Unfortunately, our recent experience was sorely lacking. The plus side: the food was excellent for the most part. We had appetizers and...a main course. My order of pork belly was nicely accompanied by kimchee and pickled cucumbers -- the "meat" part was a bit dry. Chicken dumplings were pretty good -- the sauce was stellar. Duck breast was excellent, and the salmon was nicely cooked. The downside: when arranging for reservations online, NOWHERE did it mention that we would not be seated in the inside dining area. Upon being seated in the outdoor area, I asked the host why we couldn't be seated in the main, indoor section. "It's closed," was his reply. We were in the "arena," as I guess it's called. It was extremely crowded at the outside bar, exceptionally noisy, full of three drunk women hitting on a man about 20 years younger. We could barely speak to one another. Loud music. I asked the server if the indoor seating was closed for a reason: her answer -- "they must be full...or there isn't staff to wait on people there." The indoor area wasn't full -- it was closed. I completely GET that finding staff in restaurants is challenging these days. However, if the only option is seating outside, that should be made clear on the booking website. Other restaurants do that. The server asked my husband for his drink order and left -- she walked off & never asked ME about an order, even though I had the wine list open in front of me. When the bartender brought out his Manhattan ($18 each!!), I told him that she never had asked for my order, and he very nicely brought my glass of wine immediately. Our server was OK, but as a former server in a restaurant, I was trained to check back on my tables with every course. She did not. I know her name but will refrain from posting it here. We haven't tipped 15% in a restaurant in decades -- it is usually closer to 25% or more. We could not justify more than 15% for this server's inattention to details. Again, the food was good overall. The ambiance has completely changed. We had hoped for a relatively quiet dinner at a more upscale place. Had we wanted to eat in a bar venue, we would have chosen that. It will be quite a while before we return. Two appetizers, two main courses, two Manhattans, and two glasses of wine = $157 before tip.More

Grille 3501 is beautiful with an excellent staff, wonderful drinks, and exceptional food. The atmosphere alone is wonderful and perfect for couples. Better still, this restaurant and bar offers quality beverages and food at great prices. Most important, it is clear that the wait staff...cares about what they do, as well as the bartenders, and chefs. The look and taste of the food - including desserts - were truly wonderful and made for a magical evening. My girlfriend and I cannot wait to return!More

Honestly, I wish I could give this 3.5 stars but that's not an option. Food - The food was decent but not memorable. We felt like absolutely everything needed salt. Started with chicken dumplings and calamari. Both dipping sauces were exceptional but the actual calamari,...while fried perfectly, needed seasoning and the chicken dumplings honestly were pretty bland without the yuzu sauce. I got the pork chop which was cooked perfectly and the sweet glaze and bacon lardon were yummy... Cabbage and turnips were Eh. Beef Ribs needed salt and more juice as did the potatoes with it. Butchers Cut Hanger Steak was again, cooked perfectly, but the fingerling potatoes had so much rosemary that you thought were eating pine and both the potatoes and broccolini needed seasoning. Blood Orange Margarita was decent enough but needed more acid to really be a margarita. Nothing on the dessert menu really spoke to us and we were in a bit of a rush so opted against it Highlight was our waitress. She was fun and funny... And besides getting a tad weeded towards the end of our meal when the place was packed was great. I'd go back if someone suggested it however wouldn't need to go again... Especially since I was there visiting my son at college and can be more selective.More

Me and my very close firmed finally got to have a night out and always wanted to try this place. Bad idea First I had a reservation and still waited close to an hour for a table. We all had appetizers an entire meal and...two drinks a piece I’m not sure if they used some kind of bootleg liquor but we were all extremely drunk and viciously sick everyone of us two days later and Still feeling the effects I honestly felt drugged. We sat there for at least two hours eating and drinking we all had the same drink and different meals. I will not be returning and the food was not worth the money spent or the entire night spent sick off two margaritas.More

After a bad luncheon experience with some friends ( waited 40 minutes for a table for which we had a reservation, left standing at the bar, no one even offered us a glass of iced tea), I decided to hold off reviewing 3501 until I...ate dinner there. After all, staffing is difficult now. Let me begin by saying that this place is in our neighborhood and we used to eat there once a week before the lock-down. The food was always well-prepared and fresh. We ordered the tuna tartare, a favorite of ours. Instead of the usual melange of fresh tuna and veg, there was a small lump of decidedly old, smelly tuna on top of a pile of robocoupe'd mango and tomato.I couldn't eat it. Our entrees were indifferently prepared, our drinks took an eternity. I wish I knew what happened to this place!More

Not worth the expensive prices. The food was bland, lacked seasoning and not at all as described. If you're going to charge $69 for a Cowboy steak, then it better be a Cowboy steak! Not a steak the size of a pork chop and not...cooked to the ordered specifications.More

My husband and I have been meeting our adult nieces, spouses and significant others for dinner for several years. It’s a halfway point for all of us and we’ve always enjoyed ourselves. Today’s visit was somewhat weird. When we arrived our nieces were at the...bar enjoying their adult beverage of choice. I noticed that one of my nieces was having a martini and when I found out she was having a Cucumber martini (my favorite), I requested one as well. I was informed that they did not have any cucumber vodka. My niece noticed two bottles of cucumber vodka on a lower shelf. She was told by the bartender that she could not open those bottles. My question: why not? We’re they being reserved for “special” customers? If so they should have removed them from the bar. Needless to say I was extremely disappointed that I was not able to have my favorite martini while the cucumber vodka was clearly in sight. I’ve never had this happen to me before.More
