Went there 9/23 for my 76th birthday. Place very dark and we sat in corner between two air conditioners. Yellow jackets coming out of air conditioners, owner just said Oh that's what's flying around. Curtains dirty and window sills dirty. Appetizer of mushrooms and snails...very good BUT then it went down hill from there. Stuff potato was frozen and still frozen inside but burnt on outside, veggie of the day cauliflower frozen and still cold. prime rib all fat and grisle, and instead of rare to medium rare, ti was raw/bloody inside and outside grey color. Nothing was seasoned. Waitress took basket of bread away before we got our entrees!!!! Four other people at a table had to use their cells to read the menu. Food was cold when brought out. My husband's food was no better, when asked what the Inn's special fries were, the girl said oh they cut potatoes and deep fry them. They were sliced paper thin and wide and very cold and greasy, his mushrooms were canned and over cooked, filite mignon was burnt on outside and raw inside. Only six of us there and a few at the bar. Took prime rib home and cut it up for stir fry, mostly just fat and grisel. We didn't even get dessert/coffee, just wanted to get out of there fast. Prices too high for what we got in food and service. And eating while yellow jackets buzzing around us was not fun!!!More

Anyone, unless you 're a local regular patron, which get top preference as far as service, I highly recommend that you DO NOT ORDER ANY APPETIZERS as doing so will completely halt your dinner getting to your table in a timely manner. And after 2...hours in this restaurant, our food was delivered room temperature, oh, the stuffed potatoe was hot. Thank God they serve bread, besides my app., a cup of soup, and a side salad, bread was all I dined on. I've been a waitress my entire adult life and I can guarantee that I would never let any of my tables sit for 2 hours waiting for their meals. Restaurants like that serve intermetso- not this place- just bread. 4 other tables came in after us, ate, and left, and we still didn't have our dinners. I got so aggravated, as we had an hour and half drive to get home, that I went to the kitchen to get our waitress to just bill us for what little we did have to eat, and she totally ignored me- wouldn't even turn around to look at me. The hostess tried hard to explain that because we had ordered appetizers, that they don't rush the experience. Last time I checked, people go to restaurants because they are hungry and want to eat, not sit 2 hours and EXPERIENCE other people who arrived after you, enjoy their meals as we waited and waited. What a lame excuse- EXPERIENCE. The only thing we experienced was an overpriced bill and cold food. What a joke. Live and learn- just pray that you're not starving.More

Hubby and I gave this place a try on a weeknight. My crab cakes were very good. His steak was a little overdone, but they adjusted our bill. The homemade blue cheese dressing and freshly baked bread were out of this world! We will definitely eat...here again!More

I know the food is good, but the price tag is too high for what you get. My meal was ok, but for $120 it should have been great. It wasn’t.

Our second time here. This time we had broiled Crab Cakes and Crab Meat Stuffed Flounder drizzled with Hollandaise sauce. Both were fantastic. I was barely able to finish the Crab Cakes and we brought half of the Flounder home. Most of the potatoes too....You'll spend at the brand name restaurants and the food will never be as good.More

I drove by the Inn hundreds of times and finally tried it. My wife and I were greeted by Chris who was our waitress. She gave us the history of the beautiful building which was built in 1783 after sitting us in front of the...lovely fireplace. The Inn is said to have several ghosts including Charlie, a native American who was hung in the large fireplace because he got caught having an affair with a white woman. The food was very good and the flamed grilled steaks were huge. All was good including the home made bread and the very good stuffed potato. The menu on TripAdvisor is not current, the meals were about five dollars higher than listed. We enjoyed ourselves and will be going back again sometime.More

We had not idea if the Inn at Maple Grove would be good or a bust as there are not a lot of choices in the area. There were four of us meeting up for NY, NJ, PA, MD for a girls weekend. We all...agree that we are in LOVE with The Inn at Maple Grove. This is a beautiful historic restaurant. Both the employees and the other guests were so friendly - within a few minutes of arriving, we were already chatting with our new friends! Food is excellent but highly recommend their steaks! Don’t forget to say hi to Charlie - the resident ghost! Highly recommend - can’t wait to return!!More

My husband and I went for dinner with another couple. Everyone but me ordered the Filet with lump crabmeat and loved their meals. I ordered Chicken Olivia which is boneless chicken breast and shrimp. My meal didn't come out with the others and the hostess,...who is a lovely woman, came over and said that there wasn't enough chicken on my plate so was having them add more. I think it was true because 1 piece of chicken was very good but the other wasn't really done enough. Also, there were only 2 shrimp on top and the bernaise was negligible if there at all. The waitress had come to check on the other meals before I got mine so I didn't flag her down. For over $20, I found it disappointing.More

Great atmosphere. Steaks were excellent, all ordered medium rare, perfect. Crab cakes were delicious. Definitely will go back.

The food is good and worth the wait, especially the steak which Eric cooks behind the bar on an open grill. Place is very dark and cozy, best enjoyed on a cold snowy evening when the fireplace is lit. Hidden gem in eastern berks county.

They certainly do take reservations. If you don’t reserve, you aren’t guaranteed a table. It can get busy.
