Place had a nice, open pub feel. Black and tan was great. I got fish and chips, and unfortunately they were soggy almost immediately. I know it can be a fine line with keeping the "crunch", but for a place that has a small menu and probably serves this at every table every night, I was disappointed. The fries were tasty, but also quite limp. My biggest complaint was the tarter sauce. I was given literally about 1 tablespoon for my entire meal. I asked for another (although my meal was almost done at that point)... it took another 10 min to get it. It was a much larger portion, but found out later on the bill I was charged $1.50 for that. The owner came by later to check on our experience (appreciated) and I explained the fish problem, and she apologized and said she'd talk to the kitchen. I was told she "can't give things away for free", which is why I was charged for the extra tarter sauce. That would be fine if you gave an ample portion with the meal to begin with, however. My wife had the Shepherd's Pie, and she liked it... so it wasn't a complete disaster.

I went here this past weekend after not being here for about 16 years. The place has a quaint feel, we had lunch in the mid afternoon during the COVID era, and it was definitely a little different than what I remember 16 years ago as a college student. We were the first ones there, but as we sat, they got busier. However, there was only one server, so our service was very slow. The food was pretty good, my boyfriend's leek and potato soup was a bit bland, but overall not a terrible experience.

I was feeling under the weather, so I was unable to partake in the full experience. They have a proper menu, (Scotch egg right on top)... Food was excellent. Waitress was ON POINT! handled the entire place by herself. The owner came by and introduced herself, and invited us to come back for live music. We felt welcomed and at home. This reminded me of when I was in England, and when I managed a British Pub in California. Thank you 100 times!

The interior has changed little since the last time I was here back in 2013. I had noticed the sofas and comfortable seating had gone. Service was affable and professional. The food was alright although it looked as though it was prepared in advance and cooked on a hot plate in the oven. In the end, the bangers and mash was alright. Dessert was ok as well. In the end, it was a tend expensive. Overall, it was a perfunctory dining experience but it has lost something since I last visited.

We loved the staff, food, menu selection, prices , atmosphere and location .. all these elements get 5 stars but the major hit comes from the DJ they hired to do the karaoke. He approached our table with a sign up clipboard and was friendly. My partner enthusiastically signed up as this was the major reason we went.. she loves karaoke. The DJ started off by doing two songs himself then turned it over to the first guest to sing. Half way through the song the DJ shut off the music and said he was going home in an angry huff. We eye-witnessed him going down the stairs, across the street and disappear into the night of the downtown plaza to ominously never reappear. We sincerely and strongly advise the owners and management to distance and separate themselves from this unstable individual they hired to run the karaoke.

We came late on a Wednesday night. The British-themed decor was fun to look at, and we enjoyed our drinks. Our bartender, David, was very kind and friendly. We look forward to coming back the next time we're in Ashland.

Fish and chips still good. Miss the larger portions. Wish there was one this that was GIANT. Like a giant slab of fish as they used to have. Great atmosphere

What could be better than fish and chips with a good dousing of malt finger a pint of Guinness and Irish Bailey ice cream? And to top it all off live Celtic music. Staff are friendly! Decor it dripping in all things British

We had the Shepherds Pie which was very good and a very ample serving. The ambiance of the restaurant made us feel like we were back in London!

We came in, a large group of 12 musicians and partners. No problem. Two tables were set up and a third table added later. Food was great - comfort food: mashed potatoes, sausages, I had a burger - a bit too rare and they had run out of buns. I was fine with that because I follow a Paleo diet - no bread or grains. someone ordered a plate of fries. Nice and the sauce fit well. Everyone seemed happy with their meal and drinks. Our waitress was BUSY but she got our orders to us in good time. Thanks Black Sheep!

Popped in for lunch and headed up the disgustingly dirty carpeted stairs to a large eating area. Told to sit anywhere by a nice young man. Then waited ages to be served. Seemed to be only 2 servers on duty. Moved tables to a window seat which was ok only to be confronted by a female server puking as she wiped up a spillage on the disgusting carpet. Still hadn't been served by this point. On sight of this server's behaviour we got out if there fast. Still ferling sick at the thought if the place.

The menu is traditional and tasty British pub-style food. Service was prompt and friendly. Black Sheep sponsors many live events, from bands to story-telling. Located up a very steep flight of about 20 stairs, this restaurant is not accessible for people with mobility issues.

Stopped in for dinner after a walk around Ashland. Good varieties of brews and drinks to suit your party. Menu had a little bit of everything but exactly what you would expect. Fish and chips were very good. Some folks in our party licked their plate clean. I tried the sloppy joe. It was good but nothing special. The “chips” were average. They also have a dart area in the bar. Nice little pub!

We stopped into Ashland for a quick lunch looking for something different than the “usual sandwich fare”. We really enjoyed our lunch. The special of the day was crab and prawn cakes which was delicious! The fish and chips didn’t disappoint and our party would recommend this pub if you’re looking for a great British lunch or dinner.

Really good fried food if you're in that mood, the bangers n mash are a favorite. They have a great drink selection, and lots of different events. It was kinda weird to be asked to pay cover in the middle of dinner finding out our dinner overlapped with a show though.
