The restaurant is on the top floor of a downtown building. It has seating inside and on the deck. We arrived early, between two shows and were seated right away. We always try to avoid peak-times. The service was friendly and the food finely tuned....We had a great unhurried meal. Very worth a visit.More

Ate supper at the Loft before going to a play. Cozy upstairs restaurant for a chilly Fall evening. The entrance to the restaurant is less than inviting—shabby and not much care about first impressions. Had second thoughts when we stepped inside. Upstairs was more pleasant...but even it could use some updating to its very well worn and tired decor. Our waitress was very professional and attentive. She was the best part of the evening. Good suggestions and very on task with a sweet demeanor. I am writing this about 10 days from dining at the Loft. I can’t remember anything memorable about the meal. It was not noteworthy for anything nor was it terrible. I always hope for more when I go out for dinner and a play. It seems to me this restaurant has potential to be quite good. They could benefit from an outside consultant viewing their space and operation to provide them with guidance toward a much improved restaurant.More

We’ve been going to The Loft for years. But this time it was a mess. We arrived and after a bit of a wait we were seated. We were inside and asked that the fan be turned on and the person said she’d “see what...she could do”. Nothing happened. And then we waited. After about 20 minutes we asked who our waiter was and said they’d find out. Nothing happened. After about 30 minutes we walked out. No apology. Nothing. Just awful. I’ll never go back.More

The high-ceiling dining room was attractive and comfortable. I wanted the escargot appetizer, but this item was sold out the day before. I went with the mussels marinieres, which was excellent. My wife ordered the large pot of mussels for her main course, along with...thin pommes-frites. I asked for the fries to be extra crispy and they delivered! These fries were so perfectly crispy ... simply spectacular; one of the best examples in recent memory. I had the Seafood Bouillabaisse for my main course and it was exceptional. The broth was classic and took me back to my experiences in Marseilles, France; a great melding of saffron, fennel, garlic, and tomato essence. They had wines by the glass that paired well with my food. Anyway, I highly recommend this French brasserie-type restaurant. I wish that I could go back and try their escargot dish.More

We stumbled upon this restaurant while walking around downtown Ashland. There was a little sign saying what their special of the day was. The sign pointed toward a little hallway that led to a kitchen area, that led to stairs, that led to the restaurant....A little odd, but it made it interesting. We were greeted right away and seated quickly. The server was not talkative, but friendly. We ended up ordering calamari, clam chowder soup and the special of the day which was a fish dish then chose Creme Brûlée for dessert. The fried calamari was good. It had a sauce drizzled on top of it. Next time I would request light on the sauce- it was a little much after a few bites. The clam chowder was very good! It was the perfect consistency and not too chunky. I finished the whole bowl! My hubby was satisfied with his choice of ordering the special. To top off the night we ordered Creme Brûlée, which was good. One of the cons: They do have a limited menu and most of the food pictured in Yelp or TripAdvisor were not on the menu.More

We had seen all these great dishes on Yelp. They didn’t have any of them so they must have been specials. A pretty small menu. Not much for kids. Fairly pricey. The food was very good and the place was nice. Wouldn’t take kids though.

In need of a bit more visibility to those not in the know, we lucked upon this gem on a Friday night, at 6:00. The menu offered a nice breadth of choices. The mussels were terrific, a generous serving in a butter, garlic and greens...broth. The salmon Oscar was equally pleasing: not too rich, and the salmon and crab each stood out, neither overwhelming the other. The red and white wine flights were fairly priced and paired really well with the entrees. We will return.More

What a lovely time 8 of us had recently at the Loft. The food is so well done and I was delighted that the staff kindly called me back several times (although I was in another state) to make sure they had the seating we...wanted for our larger sized group.More

Outstanding meals and drinks. You can dine inside or out on the deck over the creek. Never disappointing. Close the Oregon Shakespeare Festival's theaters. Welcoming atmosphere and staff.
