I'm giving this place a 5 because everything the restaurant could control was excellent. The food was delicious and the service was perfect. I believe our server's name was Amanda, she was awesome. We even had a visit from the manager and he was very friendly. I loved the look of this place, eclectic but casual and yet a nice date spot too. Here's a little warning if you're going here for a date night or an adult night out. It is a family place. There were A lot of kids there when we were there on a Sunday afternoon and it got a little noisy. Also bring cash because credit cards are not accepted. I wish the salad was included with the pasta dishes, but my sister got one and paid the extra for it and she felt like it was more than worth it.

We got there right after they opened which is good because we were seated immediately. By the time we left there was a line out the door! So get there early, but if you do wait in line the food is worth the wait! My wife and I both got salads, heaping with fresh cheese, delicious 😋! We ordered the pizza definitely great, probably best pizza around Northern Ohio! But we also split an order of the meatballs, yummy! Overall experience was delicious and well worth the trip, definitely going back!

This is a well-established restaurant in Akron, offering pizza and tasty, traditional Italian entrees. The portions are quite generous. The seating in several distinct rooms allows for a quieter, more intimate atmosphere. The service was attentive without being intrusive.

I've been told that "fat us flavor," but there's very little flavor to be found at Luigi's. The pizza is a bit pricey, with a grease-soaked undercooked crust. Toppings are spartan, and the sauce is devoid of flavor. They treat cheese like it's a rare and precious resource to only be dispensed in the smallest of portions, and it isn't very good cheese. The family immediately got a stomach that persisted into the next day and we tossed the leftovers, thereby committing the cardinal Italian sin of throwing away Pizza. The server seemed irritated that people had intruded on her moment of zen. They only take cash (and checks?), but there is an ATM available. The decor reminds me of a grungey 1949, and that's the part of this place that I really did enjoy. Walking in reminded of the restaurants my grandfather liked to take the family when I was a small child. That's the only thing I enjoyed, and even after a horrible pizza, the actual restaurant interior makes me grin thinking about it. 1/5, would go again if they overhauled the menu with some love and seasoning.

What happened to Luigi's pizza????? Had a lunch meeting here today and was so completely disappointed in the pizza. It had a frozen crust and was bland and tasteless. The canned mushrooms and a cost of almost 18 bucks for 8 slices of pizza is upsetting to say the least. This makes me sad because Luigi's used to be a beacon of excellent food with a splash of cool atmosphere. It appears to me that they are cutting corners here. I'm so surprised that they've resorted to store bought frozen pizza crusts. To me, that's unforgivable . Fresh pizza is easy to make and if you make it fresh, the rewards for your effort will pay off. I sincerely hope they get it together. Resting on your reputation will sink a restaurant.

We went tonight based on reviews, but we found Luigis to be very disappointing . Great look in the restaurant though w old pics and music on the jukebox . Crust was good , but not much sauce on the pizza. Sausage casserole and Spaghetti eh. We asked for marinara for the cheese bread and after 10 minutes because it was getting cold , I asked the waitress ( light brownish hair w glasses) about it because I thought she’d forgotten and she said “ I’ll bring it out when it’s ready” which I thought don’t you just dip it out ? She had a snotty attitude which I prob would’ve let writing the review go, but her attitude made the visit even more disappointing.

I have heard about this place for years and always wanted to eat here. Finally got the chance and I wasn't impressed. I got the spaghetti and a meatball ($3.99 for a meatball about the size of a raquet ball). The place was packed due to a city convention in the area. Sauce was bland and only tasted like tomato sauce from a can. It tasted like there were no Italian seasonings in the sauce. I'm not sure if they use the same sauce for their pizza or not. The pizza looked good, but I didnt taste it. They didnt have sweet tea, just unsweetened. I found this strange because I thought every restaurant in NE Ohio had sweet tea. Bread was good. It wasnt garlic bread, just a loaf cut into slices that you had to spread cold butter on.

This is a great family-owned restaurant with decades of history. Not white table cloth, but family oriented Italian. On a cold night in Akron, this was a great spot to pop into. The place looks like it has been there for decades -- I enjoyed the bowling trophies from the 50s. Had baked spaghetti (the small was a generous serving), side salad WITH CHEESE (that cheese is important and delicious), and garlic bread. I loved the vibe. The place looks like where you pop in after ice skating, hockey practice, or a night bowling. Warm and friendly. I recommend it and look forward to my next meal there.

Disappointed they charge for bread-$7.00 which they told us & $3.00 for butter which they didn’t tell us Our bill was $ 216.00 & $146.00 For 4 - Plus no valet service as advertised.’ On a positive note Food excellent, service excellent, Drinks were generous in volume Overall a little pricey but we had a good time. The negatives are like a pebble in your shoe-annoying but not life altering LJM

Luigi’s is a classic Pizza/Italian restaurant in downtown Akron that he been there since 1949. This is a GREAT place to take kids. The food is really as good as it looks in the pictures. There was plenty of free parking around 4:45pm on a Friday night.

We came here for lunch after riding bikes on the tow path. It was one of a few places nearby that was open on a Wednesday. They are cash only. We ordered an Italian sub to share and an order of onion rings. While it was tasty, there were only 4 onion rings on the plate for over $4! Other than that we enjoyed lunch. Would like to try the pizza when visiting again.

Hubby and I had an incredible dinner at Luigi’s. Generous portions of lasagna and baked spaghetti were piping hot and delicious. The Italian bread and antipasto salad were equally yummy. Server was quick and attentive. If you’re near Akron, OH, make the effort to dine at Luigi’s. Your tummy will thank you!

So today we celebrated my daughters birthday and went to Luigi’s which is her favorite and let me tell you I will not be back and i hope word of mouth helps me with how I was treated. So we were first in line if any of my fellow co-workers know me I’m always early. So we got seated, mind you now they open at 3pm and it’s going on 3:45 and we haven’t gotten our food. So sure enough the server comes and states they forgot to put one of our meals in and they’ll upgrade it from a small to a large. So we say no biggie and literally 5mins later she brings out a small serving and states, “oh they didn’t make U a large just ur small”, I’ll have the manager adjust it. So we were like cool no biggie. Time passes we’re getting to cash out and server gives me the bill and says “oh manager took off drinks for your troubles”. Gee thanks for the water and tea drinks. Anyways, goto cash out and look at bill it’s different from online amount and different from menu amount. I was very sweet and just stated to my server hey this amount is different that what your charging me. She goes to manager which takes a few so I decided to get up since this is my daughters birthday party dinner and I said whatever the difference is just keep it. So my sister is now at the cashier desk buying some dressing and the manger which was so uncalled for comes and yells at me in front of my family for calling her out on overcharging me for our meals. She’s like that’s a typo!! I’m like so your menu is a typo also on the web and on your menu in-house? How many people are you ripping off and she got so irate w me. People don’t go to Luigi’s because they are overcharging people for what they have online than what they have in store to what is being rung up and the way I was treated today when she was caught just proved it. Totally disgusted in this place.

This restaurant has the best Italian food in the Akron / Canton area. If you're looking for a great place to go for traditional, authentic Italian cuisine, this is the place! I've been to this establishment several times over the past few years and have never had a bad meal. Fair prices, excellent food, to-die-for salads loaded with fresh, high quality shredded mozzarella cheese topping that will knock your socks off. You won't find a salad like the one you'll get at Luigi's anywhere. The pizza is great. The meatballs . . . fantastic! Sausage & peppers, yep, that dish is unbelievable as well. If you're anywhere near Akron with an appetite for great Italian food, take Perkins Exit off of Route 8, head West and go visit this place. You will not be disappointed.

Our party of 6 had not been here for years. Remember cash only. The service was not good. Our server was not be very attentive. We were there at 4:00 p.m. and it took her forever to come wait on our table. Even though we were there first, she seemed to attend to the table behind us. We were all thrilled that shift change happened about 30 minutes after our arrival and our new gal was great! We even told her, we were glad for shift change. The pizza is great . The lasagna was just good. We ordered the large lasagna and in our opinion it was actually average size and average taste. It was good but we’ve had better. The bread was good. The salad was very good.. There was, also, few choices in beer….some in our group were not thrilled with that. I’d definitely go back for the pizza and salad.
