I'm in my fifties and have been going to the Strickland's on Tripplett all my life. Love this place on a warm summer evening when all the neon lights are on. Staff are always friendly, ice cream is always great and prices are fair. You get to look at the Goodyear blimp hanger and Soap Box Derby track while enjoying... More

Its no secret that the key to good ice cream is lots of cream and Strickland's knows it. Their flavors are all so tasty and smooth. The kids working inside are all super friendly and willing to give you a taste of the flavor of the day just by asking

You'll want to pitch a tent and stay in their parking lot! This ice cream is so good you don't feel like it is a treat .... It is a necessity.

My fiancé and I always try to stop by Strickland's when in town. I never knew I was a fan of frozen custard. After having Strickland's we will be life long customers. Worth every penny!

root beer ice cream! This is a must when you come back to akron. The first of many places to stop when coming back home for a visit. Nothing compares to good old homemade custard!

Strickland's is an Akron institution. It has been around a long time and was the place for my family to go to get frozen custard while I was growing up. I do think that their product was better before they started franchising. However, it is still a great place to stop for a cone and feel a bit of nostalgia.... More

Good frozen custard and yet missing a little. I ordered the flavor of the day-Grape and even though it was very good,it almost reminded me of how kids like "party cake" which is basically Vanilla with food coloring. I didnt taste much grape flavoring, but it was still pretty good Vanilla with a purple color!!

Saw a line and expected great things. Purchased a vanilla soft serve. Expensive, small portion and had flavorless.

My family is always on the lookout for new places to try. Someone recently told me about this classic place. Strickland's Custard has been around since 1963. They are a premier custard stand. Everyday made fresh! My family loved it so much that after we ate our cones I went back up to purchase a old pack pint to take... More

My husband and I stopped by to get our "favorite" ice cream flavor: chocolate almond. We stopped by with my dad and got the orange pineapple ice cream. YUM!

Thank Diana H

Stricklands(R) Frozen Custard was founded in 1936 by Bill and Florence Strickland. During his years as an Akron Pure Milk employee, Bill developed his own rich recipe of cream, eggs, sugar and other ingredients. With his formula perfected, Bill turned his attention to developing an ice cream machine (called a "batch freezer") that would quickly freeze the ice cream, while limiting the air whipped into the product. The result is Stricklands' award-winning ice cream and frozen custard.

Bill and Florence built the first Stricklands Frozen Custard stand on Triplett Avenue in Akron, Ohio, and the Stricklands' legend was born. The original ice cream store is still in operation today (and so are the original batch freezers!), Run by the third generation of the Strickland family, and serving the same fantastic ice cream and frozen custard that made Stricklands a local landmark.
