The 1 burger is a compilation of meats but is pretty good. They tend to overcook it a little so plan accordingly. The bolognese was not flavorful but the flatbread was super good. Unless you go with the pork chop or beef medallions, just stick with the burger or flatbread. $13-$16.00

Great steak and salmon - but closed for a retooling, and reopening soon. Great wait staff, excellent food, cool environment.

Good food and great service. We were greeted at the door and welcomed in by an individual who we believe was the Owner/Manager. Just a little touch to personalize the experience was great.

Recently had dinner and it was amazing! My husband and I both ordered the filet. Very tender and the sauce was absolutely delicious. The service was superb. When you're done with dinner, visit the jazz club downstairs.

Valentines Day dinner: Wings and french fries.
6:30 Arrived on time for our reservation at Blu Plate, seated after 10 minutes. Ok so far.
6:55 Took over 20 minutes for our drinks. We were suprised and disapponted that the menu shown on their website was not available and was replaced with a special Valentines Day menu. Today the website is still advertising the regular menu not the Valentines Day menu. Two couples left because of this misleading advertising. The manager said 'Oh, we have been advertising the Valentines menu all week'. Turns out you had to visit Facebook to see it. We selected the Blu Plate because of the website menu and thought it would be convenient as we had show tickets.
7:10 We ordered: Lobster Bisque, Ravioli, 6oz fillet (even though we were told it could take up to 25 minutes to cook 'because it is a very thick 6oz cut'??.
7:35 Inquired about our order and the bisque. Told us he would check.
7:40 Brought the bisque: advertised as having Baked Lobster, it did: two pieces, one the size of a pencil eraser the other about 1/3 that size.
7:45 Inquired about our order. Told it would be 'out soon'.
7:50 Served my wifes meal: Ravoli; it was cool and not at all at serving temperature and the sweet potato puree was already dried out around the edges, no offer to replace it. The manager said 'you're not going to eat this? No offer to do anything to correct it. My meal was now 'in process', whatever that means.
7:55 My meal still in limbo, my wife's cold meal was now even more unappetizing, and was told 'soon, you meal will be ready.
7:56 Cancelled our order. Waiter asked if we wanted 'to go box's to take home and eat'? He was sure the steak would be out very soon.
8:00 Paid our check and went downstairs to the club for the show.
One of the more distressing aspects of this visit (our first and last at this point) is that the manager who was informed of our problem, never offered an apology or was in any way empathetic. Her attitude clearly was that she couldn't care less.
So, our Valentines Day meal was in the club and ended up being an order of wings and fries. The wings were very bland and served without any dipping sauce. We ordered mild sauce. To their credit, the fries were hot and served with ketchup.
We agreed that this was a story that we would laugh about in the future because it is so bizarre. We also will share our story with our friends.

Met a friend for happy hour. Drinks were great, appetizer was enough for a meal, and dessert was so yummy. Atmosphere is very cool and our server was very friendly. Great place.

We've been here twice in the last few months for dinner, both times sitting at the bar where we were the only ones. All of the food we've tried has been excellent. The blackened catfish and the crawfish etouffee were both very good and surprisingly spicy. The gumbo is also quite good and extremely spicy. Service was decent both times.
The upstairs restaurant wasn't extremely busy either time we were there, but the downstairs jazz club was full both times. The same menu is served in both areas, but the jazz club is open much later. One of these nights we would like to plan a later night out and actually try the downstairs.

Had reservations, but arrived early and sat at the bar. EJ and ?? other bartender were very helpful picking out specialty drinks that were great. Pianist George and accompaniment John played the clarinet, and were great! Waiter also did a great job serving us. I had the ribs with a blueberry bbq glaze. They were tasty and tender. The side of rice and beans were great as well. She had the etoufee which she loved. Will return!

The catfish is remarkable. Better than the best New Oreleans and southern dishes I've had at more expensive restaurants. Amazing coleslaw. The gumbo is worldclass -- not to be missed! My favorite is the fish taco with the slaw. As a guy who is on a worldwide quest for the ultimate fish taco, BLU PLate's in the top five. (Dukes in Malibu leads the top five).
Great atmosphere, music and people too!

Good job, price was right food interesting. Need a little more coordination on the wines. Some of the wines were warm the whites. But I like the place you're doing some good things in Akron and I would certainly go back.

We came to Blu Plate before a show. Great atmosphere. The specialty cocktails we're good, but the stale slider rolls sent as bread was the beginning of the end. My ribs were undercooked and my wife's stuffed pork chop wasn't. Even the red beans and rice was dry and tasteless.
Even the piano player, who was very talented, played in double time for some reason.

There was some confusion as to whether or not we could order food at the show so we started upstairs at 5. Once we found out you could order and eat during the show, the server said she would bring down our food for us. I believe downstairs you are allowed in at 6 and shows start at 7. My Nashville chicken sandwich was small, but delicious as was my friend’s steak sandwich. The beet salad was good, but had a lot of dressing-an ez fix. My friend’s burger was way overdone but also an ez fix for next Time. Fries were awesome. The atmosphere in the club downstairs was very cool. Can’t wait to try it again!

I am writing this review as we are at Blu. We arrive at 7 for a reservation and ordered drinks. The drinks came 45 minutes later and we made a corporate decision after watching what was going on to leave an go to the Diamond Grille for dinner. Everyone else was waiting for service and food. Will never go back again
