Although this is a seafood place, the chef clearly knows how to use a grill for other things. This is the BEST steak I’ve had in Avon and j Bj olds it’s own against other restaurants outside OBX. Fast, friendly staff recommended a nice bottle...of wine. Definitely going back. A better choice than other nearby places.More

I last visited here 2 years ago and couldn't wait to come back for the Shrimp and Grits. This year I brought most of my family, and everyone enjoyed their meal. We called ahead and had a nice table waiting for us tucked into a...quiet corner, perfect for us. Staff pleasant and attentive, fantastic food.More

We looking for a place with outdoor seating and this was one of the places recommended by our AirB&B host. On our visit we had the special of the day which was shrimp and scallops on pesto fettucine. Very generous portions of the seafood, cooked...and seasoned to perfection. We enjoyed the meal so much we went back again two days later and ordred the Shrimp and Grits (best I've ever had) and broiled shrmp and scallops. Again, very generous portions of the seafood and very tasty. We shared a piece of the chocolate torte which was also amazing. The servers we very good, especially Isabel. Thanks for two memorable meals!!More

A seafood surprise is what we found when we happened upon Ketch 55. Was down in late March when there was still not a lot open. Decided to stop here as it was open and had decent reviews. So just to let you know, everything...was excellent and beyond expectations. Started off with the oysters Rockefeller and was pleasantly surprised to see them laying on a bed of collards, southern style. They were fantastic! Next, on the recommendation of our great waitress Isabella, we had the calamari. Saw mixed reviews on this so I held her accountable for the choice. We love it lite and crispy and fresh with aioli sauce and were not disappointed. Definitely a must anytime we eat there moving forward. For entrees, I had the shrimp and grits as all the reviews were positive. Best shrimp and grits I’ve ever had. Shrimp, andouille sausage, cream on top of a grit cake. To die for! Son had fish tacos which he loved, stuffed with fresh cobra. We also ordered one crab cake which had to be the size of two normal ones. Some of the best seafood we’ve ever had. Thx K55 and Isabella for the great experience.More

I have thought about how of even if I should write this review for some time. Picture it Avon June 2020. The pandemic panic was picking up speed and lots of people were on edge. I went for a 30 mile bicycle ride thru lots...of standing water and a rain shower. I kept thinking about the shrimp and grits special they had, Walked into the restaurant and spilled my guts to the seating hostess who directed me to a mature lady on the computer at the bar. She let me stand there without so much as "one minute please" then when she finished with her task asked what do you want? I placed a to go order and was told it would take 30 minutes for shrimp and grits the walked off. Another lady changed my whole opinion of this place by asking if I would like a seat and some ice water. This is why I give the excellent rating. Then in the fastest 30 minutes outside of lunch at work I received my order and was on my way. Back at my cottage I opened the container and could not stop laughing I don't really know what they gave me but I don't think it was grits. I ate it of course. Not bad for mystery meal. My thoughts are this place is a little my upper class than I should enter and not to ride a bicycle 30 miles and stop to eat here on the way home. I am sure this place is nice and it was my timing and the events of 2020 as always it's up to you to decideMore

I had a Caesar salad and Asian Tuna. Both were great. My friend had grilled Flounder and scallops. It was fresh and fantastic. Both portions were huge. I had an apple dumpling ala mode for dessert and would return just for that!

Back again this year for more crab cakes and fish tacos. Very fresh, cooked just right, healthy ingredients with just the right amount of flavor to entice urban eaters like us. It's a really attractive space but because of COVID we just carried out

We went here on a few recommendations, we got there about a half hour after opening and the place was jumping. My wife both wanted the Seafood Lasagna, our waiter Richard said he would check, he came back with good news and bad news, they...had only one Seafood lasagna left. I told my wife she could have it, Richard recommended Shrimp and Grits, I told him I don't like Grits, he told me it's the best thing on the menu, so I tried it. WOW it was amazing!! and the Seafood Lasagna my had wife was first rate also. I don't usually order desert, but as good our meals were I just had to find out and yum Key Lime pie and Cheesecake, super good!More
