Haven‘t been in years I returned with a friend. The staff is attentive and know their menu well. However I feel it‘s lacking a bit of a peesonal touch or more friendliness of the staff. Even though they were very kind and professional, I missed the „hearty“ Thai way. Which did not at all spoil our experience. The food was super delicious and super tasty. Yes it is a bit more expensive but considering you get a very healthy portion and high quality food the price is totally justified and I will definitely return. Tipp: Take the Green Curry Pot it‘s absolutely amazing in flavors and richness without being too spicy.

Amazing food and service

We went here to celebrate my birthday. I was initially worried about bringing two small kids. But the staff are amazing. They quickly changed the plates to kids ones, removed the candles, and offered us a high chair. The staff were extremely attentive. The food came quickly, and was just amazing. The chicken in pandan leaf is an absolute must. The sticky rice and mango is divine, and their Sala Thai tea with milk is incredible. Seriously cannot recommend this place enough. There is inside and outside seating. We sat inside as we wanted to enjoy the ac, but outside seems quite nice and there is the bonus of the cat named Snow.

Wife loves her Thai food and if she says it’s good, then that’s the final word. Friendly service with delicious food options. Even our 11 year old son who doesn’t eat anything finished his fried rice. Highly recommend.

The food is average, they charged me as British/western European restaurants would do and yet they don’t hold a European standard of service. The drink was fully of sugar and I informed them that I don’t consume sugar and asked for a replacement but they forced me to pay for the drink that I couldn’t drink. I don’t recommend it.

Extremely overpriced!! And waiter not friendly. We only had a few vegetables and rice and paid 60 dollars. Food is good, but they don´t provide a vegetarian option. We asked them to give us vegetables only, but no chicken. Usually all their plates are with chicken (or beef, but then even more costly). So they gave us vegatables (but for the same price than meat).. Rice is also extremely expensive and portions are very small; I was still hungry when leaving the restaurant. Waiter didn´t even say goodbye. Instead of coming here you better go three times to different restaurant. It is more expensive than in Europe and there are so many good Maldivien restaurants (for this money you can eat three lunch instead of one).

Dear Katharina, No idea what made you write this review, Sala Thai is the only authentic Thai restaurant in the Maldives and provides the highest quality also in terms of our ingredients, since 15 years we are flying in all our fresh ingredients directly from Thailand, cooked by Thai ladies, Our prices are on European level, yes, however in order to give our customers the very best it takes extremely cost to keep this quality level, in addition Male is equal to Hongkong one of Asia’s’ high price areas, this reflects in especially rent and operations expenses, the Maldives have no own infrastructure, subsequently everything has to be either flown in or brought by ship, we are no third world environment where you can eat for very low, this reflects also all other Maldives restaurants, our prices are even lower than most of them, if you take the quantity of our portions we provide! Our seafood, beef and lamb are organic ( on a higher level than Europe, where most of it is repacked within East Europe and in the end it provides the European documentation Our staff is highly qualified and very friendly, you were here yesterday for lunch and we’re waved good bye, Can only express our disappointment about your try to slander our establishment which has become an institution, even we are restaurant choice number one in China since 2014!

Average food and very pricey!!!

We had come for dinner.. The soup we ordered was excellent and they give a lot of soup more than enough for both so don't order for 2. The other food was average, and as the owner has explained the food is pricey because of the ingredients etc.. I was very disappointed as I was charged 4 USD + GST and Service charge ($4.88) for a 750ml of bottled water which I was forced to buy inspite of me asking for regular water.. i dunno how such a good restaurant can refuse customers regular drinking water and say they have only bottled water.. So customers pls carry water with you when u visit here.. Coz no one likes to pay close to 5$ for a bottle of water.. 1.5ltr bottled water is available for 6 MVR in any shop..

Very nice place. Warm and relaxing setting. Attentive and smiling team. We had a great evening, the dishes are just delicious and the value for money is very good. There are several levels of spices that allow as many people as possible to enjoy their meal. I highly recommend this restaurant

We had the pleasure of having a lovely meal at Sala Thai and we are happy to say that this restaurant knows how love is served on a plate. Amazing food, very warm and welcoming staff. Mr. Thomas and Ms. Rose were the sweetest hosts and I just could not geto ver the fact that they always remember me when I visit the restaurant every single time. Best Thai food outside of Thailand

The food is incredible and authentic, worth a trip to Male Island alone, especially if you've been eating terrible resort food for days! Or have a wait at the airport, just take a boat taxi into Male and eat here, it's really worth it, we ordered 7-8 dishes because we were starving and wanted to try everything and it was so worth it. But be warned if you say spicy, it will be very very spicy which is what we wanted. The atmosphere is great and relaxing, oasis from the hustle and bustle of Male, and decorations are colorful and beautiful. Staff is so kind, amazing service. I really loved this restaurant and wish I could eat there weekly.

No amount of words to express how much I have always enjoyed my experience here. Its a little on the pricier side but just close your eyes and savour each bite as the food transports you all the way to Thailand. Owner is very friendly and attentive, he remembers customers' orders, recommends dishes according to personal preference. The stagf is amazing, doesnt matter how much time passes, they will still remember you on your next visits. It's a great place to just hang out with your friends and also good for business meetings over a meal. Seats are limited, so better reserve ahead if you are going with a big group.

A must-see if you're lookin for awesome Thai

A Thai oasis in the heart of Male. The ambiance of this family run restaurant simply complements the top-quality food that we enjoyed. We met the owner and his wife who told us that all of the Thai spices and ingredients come directly from Thailand. The expense was worth it. Everything from appetizers to dessert was a flavorful experience. If we were staying longer, would have definitely eaten here again.

Best Thai Food Ever! I live in asia and have travelled extensively, but I have never come upon a restaurant with so authentic and quality food. Service and selection are excellent too. This is a big thumbs up. Definitely recommend.

Very tasty food, quite spicy. We ordered the prawns dimsum as a starter to share quantity was quite small for the price ($10 for 5 dimsum!). We then ordered a soup and a curry with sticky rice. It is a little bit pricey.

I had dinner & it was so delicious .this was my second visit I really enjoyed authentic classic Tom yum and basil chicken. they are so tasty,Thai lamb satey was bit strange the than last.but it’s good. food & beverage service speed great & Team helpful. recommend.

Fantastic Restaurant in a Fantastic Boutique Hotel

This is the restaurant that is attached to the Sala Boutique Hotel (separate review). The food is authentic Thai and delicious, as evidenced by the numerous clients that frequent the establishment. One of the best dishes is a fried whole fish in a garlic sauce that is accompanied by a green chile dish. So delicious. The curries were also notable. In fact, ALL the dishes we tried ranged from very good to excellent. We even came back the next evening for dinner to try the fish dish again. Unfortunately, it was not available, but the maître d’ suggested that the kitchen could make a similar dish with fillets instead of a whole fish. Just as good. And the mango sticky rice was also good for a repeat order. Did I mention how good the fruit juices were? Mango—yum. Mango/pineapple—yum. Watermelon—yum. Not only were they great accompaniments to our meals, but they really hit the spot when we arrived after a day of sightseeing in Male. The outdoor patio is nicely laid out so that relaxing while having one of the restaurant’s juices quickly became a favorite habit.
