Grilled sambal stingray is worth coming back here every time. Business is low in Jalan Alor considering that there are no tourists around, but this place lives up to its good reputation of quality, freshness and friendliness.

Great food. Would highly recommend. We had the egg fried rice, bbq satay and spring rolls. Obviously two large tiger beers. Excellent service and reasonable price.
The service is WORSE than TERRIBLE!!! We came at 5:30pm and the waitress hovered over us to order the moment we were seated inside. To put things into perspective, the restaurant was practically empty since it was so early. Give us some space, lady! We...came here specifically for the “Grill Stingray Fish” and asked the waitress which size we should order as a group of 3 (sizes range from RM35-RM80). She suggested the one priced at RM50. We took her suggestion and ordered that size. Then the waitress asked us if we wanted any drinks. We declined the drinks and her attitude completely changed! She rolled her eyes, walked away, and returned seconds later saying that we had to move to one of the outside tables if we were going to drink anything not from their restaurant. We had bottled water in our backpacks and had not taken them out at all... so why was the waitress assuming that we would have the audacity to consume outside drinks in her establishment?! She even went as far as to start carrying our plates and gesturing us to go outside since she was so mad that we did not order drinks. We told her that we would not drink anything while dining at Restoran Meng Kee Grill Fish, which we completely abided by. At this point, I would rather be quenched for thirst than give her another dime. It was extremely annoying that the waitress continually reminded us about not drinking outside drinks and kept checking up on us throughout our meal every 30 seconds to make sure that we were following that rule. Keep in mind that we did not pull out our bottled water ONCE from our backpacks so she had no idea that we even had outside drinks to begin with. If you can get over the terrible service, do not expect a good meal either. The “Grill Stingray Fish” was bland and dry. At the end of your meal, they tell you what you owe them and stand at the edge of your table until you give them money. Can you give us some time to get the money out of our damn wallets?! Geez. Once you hand over the money, they shoo you away like a bunch of flies so they can clear the table. What I don’t understand is why there was such a rush to clear the table when literally only 3 other people were there at the time we went... I’ve traveled to many countries in Asia and have never encountered a waitress so arrogant, rude, and disrespectful. Please support people who are kinder and friendlier by spending your money elsewhere. You will likely have a better dining experience, too.More
Went with a whole bunch of mates down Alor Street and were impressed by the number of people dining here and the turn over, which is usually a good indication of quality. We weren't disappointed by the fantastic selection of dishes available, which were served...rapidly and were absolutely delicious. The stingray was a stand out meal. Absolutely recommend this for the £14/head we paid to fill our boots and without stinting on the beers!More
Lots to choose from. We chose the chilli prawns, spiced fried rice and a yummy vegetable dish. Servings were very big!! It was delicious good atmosphere and great spot to people watch
The place is crowded and naturally its a long wait for your food. Its a little chaotic between orders and delivery. I would advise to go earlier before the dinner rush hours hopefully situation would be better. Food is tasty but overpriced.
Went to search for something to eat, i was not looking for anything particular. Ended here because it was full of smiling people. Fast service and nice dish for a cheap price. Beer was cold :)
It's so hard to settle for a place on Jalan Alor, there's so many of them. I randomly decided to sit down at Meng Kee as it was the only one showing some kind of action in mid-afternoon. Had the large chili squid, bloody hot...(as I like) but very tasty and plentiful plus a couple of beers and I wasn't disappointed. Service was a bit slow, especially given that there was so few of us clients at that time but I had plenty of time so no big deal.More
Influenced by the good reviews we arrived really looking forward to dining here but left extremely disappointed and still hungry. Service was fast and cold beers came quick so it was looking good.. until the food arrived. Our entire meal was absolutely disgusting. Spring rolls...were soggy and tasteless, fried rice was so greasy and had no flavour whatsoever and the sizzling chicken with ginger and spring onions was completely inedible. Every piece of chicken was pure bone and no meat. The sauce was bland, just like a watery flavourless gravy, no hint of ginger and no sign of spring onions either. We left the lot. We complained about the quality of food because over many years of travelling in southeast Asia this is the first time neither of us has been able to eat any dish. The waiter just said sorry and handed us the bill so we asked for a discount. The boss knocked off RM6 which worked out less than 10%. We know Jalan Alor is renowned for cheap eats but we expected a tasty good value meal. Unfortunately we left with a bad taste in our mouth and couldn't wait to dine elsewhere.More
Went with family for a taste of street food. Wonderful offering. We tried Sambal Mussels, Shrimps, fried rice, chicken satay and tender coconut water. We tried a couple of restaurants in the street but Meng Kee is way ahead of the rest in terms of...quality and taste. I would recommend everyone to try out Meng KeeMore
