We come to SL a lot and have tried most, if not all they had to offer. Lunch is our norm but we've had dinner too since their inception. The dinner menu differs a bit from lunch's. There's additional items on their dinner menu. Today...we came for our norm. a) Fish paste noodle/single pax/non claypot @ RM 13 - Fish paste is bouncy, not fishy and the thick vermicelli is cook al dente. The usage of Chinese cooking wine and evaporated milk is well balanced. There's also a tinge of sourness from the salted vege and tomatoes on the soup. Very addictive and its refillable! b) Claypot Lo shu fun @ RM 8 - Savory and the minced meat topping is generous. U may wanna omit the raw cracked egg (buried below the lo shu fun) if you don't like the feeling of being bloated! I personally like the egg added in. c) Mantis shrimp fried rice/2pax @ RM 16 - every grain of rice is filled with wok-hei. The crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside mantis shrimp pairs really well with the fried rice. A dollop of sambal belacan make this dish a joy to savor! Almost every dishes we've tried at SL turns out good and never disappoint and that's the reason we keep returning. Please be reminded that this place can get really packed during busy hours. Parking can be a challenge too! Also, there's a stall selling prawn noodle at the entrance of this eatery. Don't bother! We've tried and it sucks!More

Located along Jalan Kuchai Lama. Coming from old klang road, Turn Right at traffic light when Sri Sentosa secondary school is on your left. You will see 1 row of pretty old shoplot with flats above. Soon Lei Fish head restaurant is a middle lot....My family love their claypot fishhead thick rice noodles. Good for 1 1/2 pax. Hokkien rice cake & yam balls is nice, too. Yong taufu (fish paste stuff beancurd & vegetabled), female pig intestines & many varieties of chinesr dishes are worth trying. Barley ginkgo drink is nice, too.More

This place stands out the least in a crowded street with people selling ice cream in pots on portable stands, and cars pushing through the crowds, but at night, it is a strangely relaxing atmosphere. I ordered the spicy beef which comes in a metal...bowl suspended above a burner, and is sitting in a lake of sauce with a few chili peppers mixed in. It's definitely the thing for you if you love spicy foods, or you just like meat. Even if you don't like meat, they do have vegetarian options, and those I've had as well, and still, they are delicious. Definitely what you want if you're hoping for something authentic and delicious, low cost, and with good service, and there is anything but limited selection; their menu is practically a textbook with lots of pictures, so you can see what you're ordering. There are no communication problems either, they understand English well. Overall, it was the best food I've had that I can recall.More

This is just one of the many street restaurants spilling out so far from the sidewalk on Jalan Alor that cars can barely still get through. The waiters don't push menus into your face as you're walking by and the white plastic tables and outdoor...kitchen are completely uninviting. As for the menu, it's in Chinese! But once you sit down, the friendly, English-speaking waiters will guide you through the menu (using the pictures) and make recommendations. The food is astonishingly good and so cheap (as is the beer) that you'll want to come back here everyday. We had salty chicken, stir-fried lettuce, and chile beef one night and a variation on that a second night, both times barely able to keep our gustatory joy in check. This restaurant is recommended in the Lonely Planet guides, but our waiter was simply bemused when we showed him the entry.More
