Capital Cafe owners were the 3rd generation of the establishment for Traditional Hainanese Kopitiam. This old cafe in Kuala Lumpur opposite to Sogo Department Store, which consists of holding their heritage for the past half centuries it's impossible to miss as you walk along Jalan...Tuanku Abdul Rahman. The Owner knows her customers by name and remembers what drink they having. As I watch them entertain their customer, One thing that what holds this establishment an upper hand is their interpersonal skills towards all of their customers.More

Occasionally we had our meal here after shopping at Sogo near by. Sogo will be the nearest and convenient parking space near to this restaurant. Otherwise, you need to try your luck finding open parking space at masjid india area or campbell complex near Dang...Wangi. We love their Mi Hailam, a chinese style fried noodle with some gravy. Their Nasi Padang and Sate are the other good options. Hard to get a seat during peak hours like lunch time. It was not air-conditioned, so be prepared with your hand fan :-)More

It’s just a local type of non air conditioning restaurant. These are better known as Mamak restaurants. It’s like an Indian Muslim restaurant. Can get vegetable dishes.

When I as a little boy, this was regarded as "dining out". A typical kopitiam and attached above the shop was boarding rooms. This was the norm during the colonial era. It was before big brand Hotels invaded Kuala Lumpur! Today I decided to "treat"...myself and ended up with Capitol Cafe on what was called Batu Road (Mile Road now Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman) right in the city centre opposite Sogo. This place definitely hasn't changed since a picture of King George VI or a very young Queen Elizabeth was hung on the walls. The pictures tell you everything. Its three eateries actually, a Nasi Padang (typical Malay rice dishes), Indian Rojak and a immediate Mee stall that does some of the best Mee Hailam in KL. I decided on sharing a Rojak and having a decent sided plate of Mee Hailam. All my chdhood memories came back, nothing changed, good food and a much simpler life! The whole thing came to less than RM20. The nasi padang is great. Its a huge selection of food and the variety is diverse and abundant. And very reasonably priced at under RM10 for a heapful of rice. If you want genuine Malaysia food at its best with a history this is the place to go! Give me that instead of Burger King anyday.More

This is an old eatery; it has been in operation since 1950’s. Based on the current interior, nothing really changed in the past 50 years. It’s a quaint and tired kopitiam, now famous for its nasi Padang for lunch, and hot dish (e.g. char kway...teow) and satay in the evening. For the nasi Padang, fried beef lung with sambal and dendeng are recommended side dishes that one should try. Price is pretty reasonable, depending on the side dishes taken. Satay (chicken and beef) is recommended too. Typically the satay stall is open from 5 pm until the satay is sold out (around 7-ish pm). The cafe is accessible via public transport. Alight at Bandaraya LRT station and walk towards Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman (Jalan TAR), or go into Sogo (the department store connected to the LRT station) and walk towards the main entrance next to a Coach outpost. Cafe Capitol is located at a row of shops opposite Sogo.More

We had our Saturday lunch at the Capitol Cafe in Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur on 17 March. The cafe is huge and clean maintaining the traditional coffee shop ambience of yester years. The service is good and friendly. The nasi lemak with fried chicken is...nice and tasty. The chicken chop rice is also good too.More

Had the signature nasi lemak which came with a deep fried chicken thigh. Love the way the rice is cooked. Decent nasi lemak despite the high price. However, the coffee is kinda a letdown. Too diluted n dun hv the coffee fragrance
