This restaurant, Dotonbori Imaihonten, is located right in the middle of the busy Dotonbori area. It has a simple, traditional Japanese facade. Together with my friends, we tried lunch at this place. This is not really your cheapest Japanese gastronomic experience (we tried cheaper restos), but prices were still reasonable. We ordered their sumptuous Oyako-don, a Japanese rice bowl dish... More

Not a bad meal but I went for a hotpot style dish and most of the contents were over cooked. On the up side it's a pleasant environment amongst a hectic street.

It is a quiet island on the crowded street Doronbori. Outside it doesn't attract attention, so it is not easy to spot. We tried Nabeyaki-udon soup with noodles and Ten-don Domburri. The soups were all delicious.

This shop is very difficult to find but it is an absolute hidden treasure for tourists. We were going in cirles for quite some time and finally make it there for a late lunch before 3 pm. And luckily no queue. This four storage restaurants served up simple but very delicious Japanese meals. The menu is not extensive but you... More

Didn't appreciate the udon that much. we got there at 9:30 pm and we only had 30 minutes to gulp a whole hot bowl of soup before they closed for the day. The spice was very interesting though. They didn't have the tempura udon when we got there. I ordered the duck udon instead.

Recommended by my boss to visit. Almost missed the venue but managed to find the bamboo decoration adorning the exterior. Udon was so special that my daughter who didn't like this dish finished almost a bowl. Should go for the steamboat if possible and try the wide variety of fresh ingredients.

This restaurant is well known udon restaurant in Osaka. The soup is excellent, transparent and rich, though noodle is soft. As a udon lover, I estimate noodle very strict. I hope the noodle very chewy becourse my standard is Kagawa udon. But normally udon in Kansai is very soft.

Dotonbori area is a loud collection of very colourful and tourist "trap" restaurants. This restaurant is a place to hide from the madness and enjoy a slurpy bowl of udon.

For genuine Udon, try local restaurants outside the tourist spots or even the train stations. I only came here because a friend said it was recommended on Trip Advisor. I had told them that I knew good local udon places after living here 2 years, but they insisted they wanted to try this one. The prices arent bad, the atmosphere... More
