This place is brilliant, it is very reasonably priced with a very large selection of Sushi. It is self explanatory, so if you don't speak japanese it is perfect for you. My friend doesn't like Fish, and she came along and managed ok as there are things like Duck and Beef on the Menu. If you're going to eat sushi... More

We went there on our first night in Kyoto following the suggestions of our hotel owner. we waited in the queue quite a bit to be seated. Based on the comments, we preferred to stay in the entrance, instead of going up. I couldn't find anything extraordinary which helps this restaurant to be that famous among tourist. Sushi was fresh... More

This is a kaitenzushi place--mechanical sushi bar--that has surprising good sushi of all kinds, raw fish and fishless vegetables. It can get crowded around mealtime, since it is right downtown on sanjo dori. But the mood is always upbeat, and te sushi chefs are friendly, smiling, and willing to make whatever you ask for. A little Japanese helps. There are... More

Sushi tends to be very expensive at home in the UK, and so far on our trip earing out in Japan has also been costly, so we were amazed to find this straightforward, friendly and reasonable conveyor sushi restaurant in central Kyoto. Although there was a queue, we were soon shown to the upper room. Plates on the conveyor have... More

This place was amazing. My girlfriend told me she was in the mood for sushi and we found this place in Kyoto Station. Honestly the best sushi i've had in my life and the value is great. I had 12 plates for about 2300yen ($24), including THREE plates of the grilled eel! Also comes with complementary tea, like many places... More

Fish quality is decent but rice is not well prepared in my opinion. Sushi types are mainly aimed at foreigners, and that's the reason why you won't find many locals here.

This is one of those conveyor belt sushi restaurants. Perfect for first-timers and kids who want to try out a bit of a selection. It is very reasonable and clear about costs of each dish: 146Yen for most dishes with a blue rim or multi-coloured rim on the plate. And 346Yen for dishes which are a dark blue premium-style plate.... More

Even if there Is a lot of people waiting, the wait Is quite short. Nice to see the sushi being made in front of us. You can ask the chief for the sushis you want. However they are not as good as said in previous post. Not too expansive.

Staying in City Center

Neighborhood Profile
City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street bring deal hunters and fashionistas out in droves to peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and clubs. A trendy culinary scene and an abundance of local watering holes give the Center its youthful vibrancy. In contrast, the quieter areas of the City Center seem a world away, shielded from noise by the foliage of the public gardens and zen spaces surrounding the area's shrines, castles, and the Imperial Palace. These ancient and sacred spots are seamlessly folded into the scenery, providing a respite from the energy of the city, but close enough to put you directly back onto the pulse of the city when you're ready.
