Below a steep stair is a ramen shop situated which is runned by a single woman. We had to wait a while because all 12 seats were occupied. But it was worthwhile! The lady was very friendly and made good personal contact with everyone. Besides...her Chicken Ramen black and white were just great. We enjoyed it very much. Also the sake she advised. To be recommended!More

We found this place in Gion. The owner was very friendly and the food was great! She was very kind to my daughter! No toilet though.

Wandered in by accident and had my favorite meal from my trip to Japan - the broth was the richest I have ever had - very deeply satisfying.

We found this spot for lunch based on the Trip Advisor ratings. It lived up to its reputation. There are many choices on the menu (English version for us), but, like many other reviewers, we went for the ramen/chicken/green tea ice cream combination. I had...the black ramen and my wife the white ramen. The black ramen was a new experience for me with a very rich broth with a consistency not unlike gravy. Once I got used to the consistency, I enjoyed it very much. The chicken was also good. The combination plate is generous and makes for a hearty lunch. Service was fast and friendly and sitting at the communal tables (that is all they have) made for a fun experience.More

This placed was recommended by staff at our hotel. We lucked out and didn't have to wait too long. The placed has group dining upstairs and it was fun sharing spaced with strangers. Loved the rich broth of this ramen. The menu is pretty simple,...they know what they are doing and stick to the basics.More

Had the black ramen with fried chicken. The stock was thick and rich with good depth of flavour. Fried chicken was crispy on the outside and very juicy on the inside. Highly recommended to visit this gem when in Kyoto!

Super little restaurant downstairs. We had the white ramen and black ramen plus chicken fried rice and recommended sake. Super flavours. Quick service. Great Sake, like a dry Vodka Martini. Just the job after sight seeing around Kyoto - with lots of department stores and...others shops in the local area to visit after the early evening meal.More

I was really excited about eating this ramen after seeing it on an Instagram feed. This is a small 16 seater restaurant and as we were there early (6pm) we didn’t have to wait too long for a seat. All of us ordered the lemon...ramen, karaage (fried chicken) and green tea ice cream. Everything was delicious except the ramen broth. Given that it was a lemon ramen, I was expecting more of a citrusy flavour. The broth was quite rich as well (abit too rich for our personal tastes, I couldn’t drink much of it). Perhaps if there was more of a lemon flavour it could cut through the richness of the broth and add some brightness.More

I will leave it at this: after sitting with a room full of fellow Americans for 10 minutes, we left four bowls full of food on the table barely touched and had dinner at an alternate international ramen chain instead. Soup: really the low point....One of our group compared it to canned turkey gravy. Another suggested that Campbell’s Mushroom Soup must have been involved. Potentially Swanson’s. I would use the words gloopy, salty, and disgusting to describe it. Noodles: overcooked, limpid strands of starch pulled from a package and took a swim for far too long in a filthy onsen. Pork/egg: ice cold, even though they were submerged in the sludge-like “soup.” These were probably purchased at Lawsons, since a ramen-ya of this poor quality wouldn’t splurge on 7-11. 7-11 has perfectly acceptable cup-o-noodle all over japan for 80¥. Go there and not to this dump. We spent most of tonight wondering how these scam artists were able to pay a troll farm to post fake reviews for them. NOTE: This review was flagged for bias and removed so I am resubmitting. It is not biased. I had a first person experience that was legitimately terrible. I was not paid by Muraji or compensated in any way in exchange for my review, nor am I affiliated with a competing establishment. The references to Lawsons and 7-11 are convenience stores that I am not affiliated with. I am not attempting to blackmail the restaurant, I am trying to encourage my fellow visitors to avoid at all costs.More
