Kyoto Gogyo, is casual ramen place in Kyoto. The restaurant is very simple, but cosy. It works on a walk-in basis. You wrote your name and sitting preference (counter-table-either) and wait to be called on a bench outside the restaurant. It was recommended by the...our hotel, and it was definitely worth trying. They have different options of ramen. My friend and I tried the gyoza, the soy broth ramen and the pork broth ramen. The food was very good, rich of flavours. If you’re looking for simple, quick and delicious place for lunch I would strongly recommend it.More

We went here for dinner last night as a couple. We got crumbed tuna sashimi for entree and a ramen for the main. Both meals were incredible, nothing to fault! The sashimi was fresh as ever and the ramen was ever so flaversome with a...generous amount. The only down side was the 880 yen cover charge that was snuck on the bill at the end of the meal. This plus tax made the meal alot more expensive than originally thought. We wouldn't even pay this amount at home for the same meal. Unfortunate, but still a lovely meal.More

The burnt miso ramen was delicious enough, and we also ordered a portion of miso roast pork that was tasty, but came in a very small serving. One bowl of ramen and one serving of roast pork came up to over 4000 yen - because...of a service charge of 400 yen per person (which they only announced to us after we had sat down and ordered), and green tea that was 400 yen per person too (which we did not receive any refills of). For the price, one can get much more delicious food and better service in Japan.More

We ordered the salad with tofy and sesamy sauce and it was very very tasty! Then we had salmon sashimi, which was very nice, the gyozas, very tasty but only a few, the ramen with burnt miso, which was also very tasty. The only dish...I would not recommend was the rice with yam and tuna as it was quite slimy. For desert we had the black sesame pudding and it was really good. The stuff was very friendly and helpful.More

Heard people raving about this place so gave it a try. While the food was pretty nice, I felt I’ve had similar or better ramen at cheaper stores in other parts of Japan. The burnt miso was certainly interesting but probably not to everyone’s taste....I found the staff to be only OK, which in my opinion is below average for Japan’s very high standard for hospitality. The service did not feel very personal. They were only interested in taking your order as quick as possible (to the point of harassment) and being too busy for you after you’re done. Usually this is fine but this place charges pretty high prices. I would consider this eatery as primarily targeting tourists. While it was a “comfortable” experience as staff spoke fluent english and things were easy to understand etc, prices were certainly higher than local stores.More

Ordered the special burnt shoyu and miso ramen, as well as their gyoza. Love the ramen. The broth was tasty and the serving was very generous. Quite pricey at Y1,400+ but worth it. The gyoza however was disappointing. Small serving and was priced at Y600+...for 8 pcs. Queue can be quite long so prepare for the wait. We arrived around 1:30pm on a weekday and was still 3rd in line.More

Food is fine but the waitress/waiters are not only not helpful but their attitude are simply the worse I have experienced in japan (I come to Japan 6 times a year).

The burnt Ramen is not be missed!! Loved the smoky flavours. Delicious way to break up regular ramen meals. The restaurant its self it really nice and well decorated. Staff were great too. I would 100% return.

Nothing to not like. A game changer of a ramen dish – friends recommended this restaurant to me and now I recommend it to everyone who is going to Kyoto. Sublime.

Had the SHoyu Ramen which I really loved. The miso ramen was a bit too much, couldn't drink the soup at the end. Gyoza and fried chicken were excellent as well. And they had a fresh green salad with delicious dressing, so that is a...plus! Great service and atmosphere. I would recommend, but you definitely have to like the smokey flavor of the burnt RamenMore
