If you want to take a break in the middle of the main touristic area in Arashyama (close to Ten-ryu temple), if you follow the signals that you'll se on your way, you can find a piece of heaven! At the groundfloor of their house...a polite coupple of japanese opened their little kitchen. They will cuddle you with a genuine and tastee cusine in an amazing location (there is also a little garden outside with some tables if you like). I liked this place a lot because i could fine there a bit of real Japan in an area where it get a bit lost. (Arashyama it's amazing by the way-just go out from the main routs!!) Very very recommended.More

In total tranquility you can taste an unexpectedly good cappuccino and apricot cake or an ice cold coke and some sandwiches. Recommended for a short break to rest your hurting feet after a long stroll in Arashiyama!

Lovely little place. Had the vegetable curry and my husband had chicken katsu curry. Both were excellent and came with a great little side salad. Good service as well and an English menu was provided.

The only place in Japan where we found vegetarian food and really good coffee. Friendly couple owning the place. Arigato!!! :)

There were line-ups everywhere. But Cafe Takahashi is nicely tucked in a quiet street away from the crowds at the Togetsu-Kuo Bridge. The Tonkatsu on curry was very nice. The blue mountain coffee was a bit light. But the family who ran the cafe are...all very friendly, and their home us clean and quiet.More

Stopped here for lunch and was made to feel very welcome even though we were the only non Japanese there. Very traditional old style cafe. Food was really good. I had the mushroom pilaf (¥1300) and my gf had a rice omelette (¥1300). Both came...with a side salad. Ordered a coke and a ginger ale too. Ginger ale was delicious. Bill was around ¥3600. Totally recommend this place if you are in the areaMore

Excellent little quaint Cafe restaurant, 2 minutes away from the crowds of the main street. I had vegetarian curry and it was very tasty. Very much recommended.

We arrived in Kyoto a little past breakfast time and came upon this little restaurant. Lovely little place run by an elderly couple. Don’t expect fast food here though - but when our food arrived, it was heavenly! Highly recommended a nice place tucked away...from the bustling tourist spots!More

This little gem off the beaten track was such a welcome break from the crowd. We sat in the garden out the back with only one other couple who were also enjoying the peace. The coffee was excellent and the sweets were delicious.
