After a week of traditional Japanese food, my son and I were craving a burger. Lipton hit the spot!!! We did not feel the waitresses were rude. We were served quickly. Save room for the delicious ice cream sundae.

I stood in line to enter. No sign up waiting list, all tables full. I thought it must be that good. When it came my turn, the staff member asked me to step aside and gave me a menu. The same staff member then gave a menu to two new customers who got in line behind me. When a table... More

Ok I must admit Lipton tea house is a bit pricey. Cake is decent but the tables are so small and uncomfortable. You'll hear everything the persons next table are talking. That being said... why I I keep coming back? What makes me keep coming back is their tea parfait (1080¥), combination of homemade tea ice-cream, tea jelly, tea moose... More

With our group of six friends travelling Japan we enjoyed a very good breakfast here today. Great food, great service and great price. Thank you Teahouse Lipton staff.

A western-style breakfast with toasted bred and omelettes with ham, with some coffee in the set breakfast. Pastries tested with a lot of cream

Worst service we experienced in 2.5 weeks Japan, loud and unpleasant atmosphere, ridiculous prices for the quality. Go elsewhere!

Bad service, need to bring coffee immediately. Could hardly find my egg(s) Could it b d a half of an egg? And to top it off, expensive. I feel robbed. There are dozens of other restaurants nearby. Pick any of them

I had the breakfast set here which is called an English breakfast set. It came with scrambled eggs, sausages (but more like hot dog), and toast. The egg was a bit cold when brought to the table and my toast looked good, but didn't have any butter or jam that came with it. So I asked the waitress for some... More

We happened upon these Lipton restaurants which apparently are connected with the Lipton Tea company. The food was western/european and presented very well, with polite and friendly staff. We were the only tourists there at the time, and it appeared that the customers were locals who wanted to have a nice meal in a nice atmosphere, that was relaxing and... More

Bought two slices of cake on display as we couldn't resist the offerings. We took ages faffing around in front of the display cabinets trying to decide what we wanted and despite being very close to closing time were not rushed in the least. Finally, we got a sort of lemon cheese cake that had real slices of lemon on... More

Staying in Shimogyo-ku

Neighborhood Profile
Shimogyo-ku is centered around the busy train hub, Kyoto Station. A nexus for commerce, shopping, dining, and hotels, the Shimogyo-ku area is infused with tourists and local business travelers, making it a competitive location for ever-new commercial structures. The shops and cafes here are chic and trendy, as a result, with many recognizable chains. Commuters flood the Shimogyo-ku area twice a day, and with Kyoto Station itself being a modern mega-complex and an architectural marvel, this neighborhood is one of the most contemporary and energetic areas that the city has to offer. Buildings here look futuristic, and huge department stores, shopping arcades, and public meeting spaces provide every possible convenience. It is also nearly the only place in Kyoto where rooftop dining and socializing is available, completing its modern tone.
