Amazing bar especially English speakers. As a bartender from the US it was a pleasure talking to Naoya and Darragh about Japanese whiskey as well as things to do in the area. Made me feel right at home and I would highly recommend for a break from the language barrier.

Typical foreign Irish bar - it’s only small and nothing really Irish about it but friendly service, speaks great English, good drink and snack selection. Disappointing that people smoke here.

This was a nice stop off for a pint. They didn’t have any Guinness at the time we arrived, so I had a local IPA which was really nice.
The bar staff were friendly.
I’d visit this pub again when in Kyoto.

Our first night in Kyoto and called in for one drink on the way back to the hotel….half an evening and several rounds later we left happy and relaxed
This is such a great place!
Staff are fantastic with plenty of advice and help
I am sure this will be our ‘local’ while here in Kyoto
The Guinness might be the best we have had while abroad along with both Irish and Japanese whiskey

In Tokio we visited the pub chain. But this British pub is cozy and authentic. The bartenders are fluent in English and really fun to talk to.

Had one of the best Hamburgers here.
There was a Japanese craft draft beer called Yonayona Ale and it was great!
The staffs are friendly and English spoken.
Highly recommended!

Popped into here after a night looking for Geishas, they did offer me a Guinness after spotting my Irish accent, but went instead for the Matcha Beer. When in Rome.

Had this place suggested to us by a guide in Osaka. Found it just in time for the England v Argentina game but all of a sudden tv goes out! To his credit the guy behind the bar worked his socks off to get it fixed and it came on as the anthems were being sung. Got the biggest cheer of the night.
Beers and G&Ts perfectly acceptable, didn’t try the food but people around us seemed to be enjoying the snacks they had ordered.
The bar is only small but this added to the atmosphere.

Stopped in for a pint and chips after walking through the craziness of Gion. It was nice to get a pint of cider after traveling in Japan with sake and tea galore. The bartender was nice and the chips crispy. They had the rugby game on in preparation for the World Cup and we were able to relax while watching the game. Menu is completely western and a nice change of pace. Prices were not bad either. Stop in if you need a bit of English fare in Japan.

We stopped in on a hot afternoon after touring the Gion district of Kyoto. We had a large party which they accommodated well. Service was good and the staff friendly. My boyfriend ordered a gin & tonic which was so good I had to have one (and I usually don't drink gin.) We had a great time. Will visit again if I am ever back in this area.

We were waiting 15min to get the beers and the bar was almost empty. While we were waiting the bartender was talking with the guys around. After 15min she realized that we were still waiting our beers and finally she brought it. 5 min later, the bartender's friends came into the bar and they "suggest" us to change the table to other smaller and narrowed. I guess, the bartender realized we were angry and he listened "tripadvisor" and tried to repair it with free frenchfries, anyway to late. Bad experience, bad service.

Dropped in for a drink by myself and sat at the bar - had a pint but also got a free taste of a Japanese whisky, plus the bar staff were very friendly and made me feel very much at home! Great vibe and a really good place to enjoy a couple of beers in Kyoto, loved it!

Popped in here to watch the world cup match. There were two large HD tv's, so a worthy stop if you're looking for a sports bar.
Place was pretty basic with a few tables and chairs. Had a handful of beers on tap + some spirits. Steer clear of the red wine however...
Not a place you'll remember long after your visit, but its a decent spot for a quick beer.

Gion
Gion is Kyoto's famed Geisha District (called "Geiko" in Kyoto). Though Gion's many tea houses and entertainment restaurants are closed to foreigners, Geiko and Maiko in their traditional makeup with gilded hair in full kimono can be seen drifting the streets on their way to and from work, where they fan dance, sing, and play instruments for customers. Gion lights up at night, when the ancient-looking streets glow with lanterns along the river, where weeping willows catch the starlight and the air is warmed with conversation. Groups pass through to populate the restaurants and bars along the riverfront, but Gion still manages to be a mostly quiet district, due in large part to limited automotive traffic through many of its streets. Gion is a wonderful place to indulge in Kyoto's local and customary cuisines, and is best enjoyed after dark.
