I’m a fan of shoyu ramen so picked this over the many ramen joints in the ramen alley. Much disappointment- Boring soup base with a flat taste of msg, probably the worst shoyu I ever had. I live in the uk so would have expected...something way better. Noodle was mediocre; bamboo shoots too tough and not chewable. Really rude services warning: I came with my family and we have a toddler and elderly. Understood ramen joints are small businesses so we tried to be accommodating. My sister had her toddler on the baby sling to avoid taking up spaces, and she even took him out of the shop when he just started to make a bit of noise. The manager walked up to me (with his google translator) saying “it’s dangerous to walk around in the shop” - it puzzled us as we didn’t, and my sis literally just walked out of the door and it wasn’t the like she came in and out multiple times. Understood we were a rather large group (9 persons) so we tried to finish the bowl ASAP, I finished first so I took the toddler out (he stayed quiet anyway) trying to give this little diner one more space for others. The manager walked up to me again asking me to tell my family to get out as soon as they finish the bowl (I speak a little Japanese so he came to me all the time)- and my poor dad (rather old and visibly “inconvenient”) was told off as he just finished his last bite and put down his chopsticks. They expect customers to fully comply with their invisible rules while I didn’t see much professionalism from them- Empty soya sauce bottle which wasn’t filled (asked twice), mixed up orders without an apology. There are about 10 other ramen joints in the ramen alley - go try others and don’t ruin your time in the beautiful Kyoto!More

I ordered chicken paitan, my wife and the kids ordered the toyama black. I personally liked their order more than what I ordered. I personally wanted a break from the all the tonkotsu ramen we've been trying the past few days.Ironically, my companions liked my...order more than theirs (they're tonkotsu addicts).Anyway, the ramen was good, the quality of ingredients at par with other shops we have tried.More

Great ramen at a good price. Very popular so be prepared to wait in line to get in at certain times. The competitors had no lines, but definitely worth the wait. Gzoya was also very good. The restaurant is a five time champion at the...Tokyo Ramen Fair.More

Tried Ramen Iroha with some friends. The ramen is unique as the broth is black in colour. The noodle texture is good and springy. However the broth is quite salty.

the restaurant is located at the 10th floor of Isetan in Kyoto Station Building. this is where kyoto ramen street is located. you could find about 8 ramen stores here. we didn’t know what to choose! chose this restaurant because it’s ramen is different from...what we normally have. it’s soup base is black! we simply call it black soup ramen. it’s a little salty but tasty. the noodles are so al dente! gyoza is perfect too. we paid about 3000Y for a family of 3. totally happy with what we have tried.More

Our hotel was located at Kyoto station. After a hard days sightseeing in Kyoto we decided that we wanted something quick and easy for dinner. We decided to go for ramen and found this place nearby. The waitress helps you select the Ramen you want...from the machine. You pay your money and get a token. Easy! My wife had the chicken ramen and i had the dark ramen, both delicious. Would recommend this place.More

Came to Kyoto 2nd time this year and tried their ramen again. Opting for the dark soy sauce based ramen, and it was really good. good depth flavour but yet not salty. They have paper apron which is very convenient to prevent any spillage onto...your shirt.More

Good lunch combo with both ramen and rice. Really tasty! Selected the dan dan men and it was delicious with enough spice. There are aprons in case any of the sauce spill to your shirt.

This ramen shop is part of the "Ramen Koji" (Ramen street) located on the 10th floor of the shopping area within the Kyoto train station. The "street" consists of 8 different ramen shops, each a unique represantation of 8 famous ramen restaurants from different parts...of Japan. We chose the Menya Iroha on a weekday night on a whim, and it proved to be perfect. There is an ordering machine (also available in English for tourists), the staff was quick and friendly (although not particularly happy with us tourists snapping photos of the place) and the food was excellent and reasonably priced. Highly recommended.More
