Really nice burger and fries. Portions not large but costs aren't either. Best Guiness in town. Could do with adding to the looped Irish music. Apparently Japanese owner and multi-national business and travelling clients all having a warm welcome from really good staff. Yana, Kaede and the others work hard to make you feel welcome. Stayed in the Sequence Hotel with my daughter almost opposite the pub so it was a regular visit for me. I say go for sure but beware no late drinking!! They shut on time...11.00pm

Been to this bar and their other locations a couple of times and have always liked it. Even when it’s very busy the atmosphere is good. It’s especially nice finding a place to watch big games like NRL, and even though the staff seems very busy they were friendly.

The pseudo "irish" / British pub seems popular. At this "pub" the food was decent and the staff (2) pleasant. Not exactly a home away from home for a world weary ex-pat but was a welcome break on a rainy day!

Nice pub, good service. Loved watching the Orix Buffaloes play in the Climax Series but can understand why they changed to soccer.

We visited this particular Man in the Moon on our last visit to Kyoto (there are four in the area) and enjoyed the friendly service. This time was no different but much busier (like many, we’re here for the Rugby World Cup). Good service and a good place to watch sport on TV. A couple of bar staff have excellent English making orders super easy. Food is ok (not amazing) but drinks range is brilliant.

What a treat we stumbled upon, after travelling through Japan for a week, and eating all kinds of unusual food we are not at all used to, all we wanted was something we could eat that was not Japanese food. Yes I know you are saying you are in Japan what do you expect you would eat. But hey how nice to have a burger and fries. Seriously it was really nice and great beer on tap. We had Kirin beer and cheese burgers it was great. We were served by Noriko she was very helpful and speaks english. Would recommend this place.

We were the only people in the bar when we visited. Staff aren’t very friendly and are uninterested. Beer was good, but there are many better places in the area.

A large group of us ( UK+ Anzac tourists on a Wendy Wu tour) arrived after dinner at a local restaurant and were all made most welcome by the staff and also 2 other locals who gave up their seats for us as a gesture of Japanese -Irish hospitality . It was music night which added an extra element although it was quite odd listening to Japanese jazz -some with lyrics , in an Irish pub ...with not "a wild rover" to be seen, apart from our group! Many thanks to the one bar lady who gave me and successfully deflated, ready for travel, one of the Jack Daniel`s promo balloons for my son who is such an avid collector of anything and everything JD ! Great selection of beers -draft and bottled and also compared to a number of other watering holes -NOT EXPENSIVE ! Thanks to all M & The Gang !

...but as an authentic Irish pub, it is NOT. Food overpriced but good . Same For the beer. A welcome respite for us chicken Westerners who dislike odd raw fish dishes!

Overall we had a good experience. My family isn't as adventurous at trying local cuisine and so finding an irish pub for dinner worked well for us. The beer selection was great, along with the rest of the bar menu. Our food came quickly and hot and was overall fairly good. We had ordered some fried food which were perhaps a little too greasy but not terrible. We saw a couple of these Man on the Moo restaurants so perhaps it's a chain style restaurant around Kyoto.

Shimogyo-ku
Shimogyo-ku is centered around the busy train hub, Kyoto Station. A nexus for commerce, shopping, dining, and hotels, the Shimogyo-ku area is infused with tourists and local business travelers, making it a competitive location for ever-new commercial structures. The shops and cafes here are chic and trendy, as a result, with many recognizable chains. Commuters flood the Shimogyo-ku area twice a day, and with Kyoto Station itself being a modern mega-complex and an architectural marvel, this neighborhood is one of the most contemporary and energetic areas that the city has to offer. Buildings here look futuristic, and huge department stores, shopping arcades, and public meeting spaces provide every possible convenience. It is also nearly the only place in Kyoto where rooftop dining and socializing is available, completing its modern tone.
