This was a really enjoyable experience all round. Traditional style floor seating and the food is brought out to the grill in front of you. Don’t worry- the food is already cooked. Just a fun extra element to your meal. And the staff were so...More

We both had the okonomyaki. Read great reviews, and having just had okonomyaki twice in Hiroshima, we were really looking forward to it. But only tourists eat here. And the food is bland. Looks ok, has very little taste. Service was not very good either....More

Delicious and well priced food. A really enjoyable Kyoto dining experience. Traditional Japanese food in a traditional setting. The whole experience was very enjoyable.

Stumbled on this restaurant while walking around Geon. The entrance is small and there is a box to place shoes prior to entering. Grilling can be done tableside or there are options to have it prepared in the kitchen. Food was very good and did...More

We went to Gion and found this restaurant accidentally, they served tepanyaki (hot plate) in their traditional way. Quality and price are considered as reasonable compare with the area. I personally recommend this restaurant for mid-range dinner with fun style.

We came expecting okonomiyaki consisting of cabbage and meat mixed with batter and fried on both sides. This is a thin crepe covered with cabbage and toppings, served open face. They don't serve mayonnaise, only spicy and sweet sauce, without which the dish has no...More

It only took Google Maps four tries to (almost) find this place, but the wait was worth it. We took our shoes off when we arrived and waited about another ten minutes and then were seated. The restaurant staff does not speak much English, but...More

Gion is Kyoto's famed Geisha District (called "Geiko"
in Kyoto). Though Gion's many tea houses and
entertainment restaurants are closed to foreigners,
Geiko and Maiko in their traditional makeup with
gilded hair in full kimono can be seen drifting the
streets on their way to and from work, where they fan
dance, sing, and play instruments for customers. Gion
