We tried 551 Horai located at Kyoto station, but really you can find this stall selling 551 Horai everywhere in Kyoto and Osaka. We bought 2 pork butaman (steamed bun), 6 pork shumais and 10 pork gyozas for only 1,140 yen. They are simply the...best! The line for this stall is always long but the process is very efficient. You dont have to wait for too long. They only sell for take aways and no dine in option available. 551 horai is a must try!More

The line is long but quite fast. Value for money. All packages let you easily eat them on the train. If you have to choose only one item to taste, I recommend Pork bun, the bun texture is great, pork filing is tasty.

Recommended for their fresh hot take away morsels. Very conveniently packed to be consumed at your hotel room, or anywhere you can find a seat to enjoy. When tired from walking and after doing tours, it's worth lining in queue to buy some of their...delicious dumplings of many varieties. The queue is always long, but you move quite fast.More

We pass 551 in the evening after tea and we agreed we must have this for breakfast before boarding the next day, first inline as they opened, the service was fast and so happy and polite, 2 pork buns and 10 gyozas was plenty for...us and good for the price and sat in the waiting room around the corner .... oishī....More

Everyday there would be a Long queue for this shop so one day I decided to try it and see how good it was! Was actually quite excited seeing that so many people actually buy it. To be fair I only tried the steamed buns....It was poor. The skin was thick and rubbery. The filling was average and I’m still amazed how come so many people queue for it Everyday. (Later when I went osaka I realised no one eats this there and their outlet there is always empty) Price wise it’s affordable so maybe when people are rushing or didn’t wanna take dinner they would takeaway their items for a light meal. I wouldn’t eat this again given that there are so many other delicious food in japan.More

Decided to buy one as we had seen queues in most 551 Horai kiosks in Osaka. I would give it a 5/10. The skin of the bun was somewhat thick & rubbery. The pork fillings was alright. I won't bother queuing.

You see the Ibis hotel on the other side of the station? Then it’s just in front of the hotel and on the first floor of the train station. Took us a bit of time to find it. Very good buns and dumplings! They do...shrimp dumplings so if you don’t eat meat then it’s still ok! Then it’s gyoza and other dumplings etc. They are specialists, meaning that they serve extra fast and they don’t do anything else than that. Don’t wait for seats etc, it’s only take away. There are a few benches just in front so it’s ok! Helpful? :)More

Southern Kyoto
Southern Kyoto has a reserved air. Though the Fushimi

strolling and reflection. The Fushimi Inari Shrine
itself is made up of 32,000 sub-shrines, and the
mountain they are dotted across beckons hikers,

It is on the 1st floor on a corner stall. It is not on the street lower level. It is on the opposite side of the mall closer to Hachijo Dori side of the station. It is very good Gyoza and it is fresh all of the time, because... More
