My family and I have visited this restaurant many times, and are always satisfied. I usually order ramen, which is very good. They have been awarded as Best Ramen in Kyoto two years in a row, and I can see why. This restaurant is very appropriate for kids, because they play Tom and Jerry, the cartoon comedy. Your kids can... More

This restaurant is located in Ichijoji area (northern part of Kyoto near Ginkaku-ji). I think Takayasu is best ramen in Kyoto. Soup is made by pork and chicken bone ( I think) and maddy white. Teishoku (Ramen, rice and fried chicken) is the most popular menu.

The best tonkotsu ramen I've ever had in my life, the noodle, the soup everything in perfect combination. Nira goma topping is very spicy but going so well with ramen (free of charge!). Kara-age (fried chicken) topped with curry powder is crispy and taste just right. I ordered the set meal 950¥ ramen + 3 pieces of fried chicken. It... More

Staying in City Center

Neighborhood Profile
City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street bring deal hunters and fashionistas out in droves to peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and clubs. A trendy culinary scene and an abundance of local watering holes give the Center its youthful vibrancy. In contrast, the quieter areas of the City Center seem a world away, shielded from noise by the foliage of the public gardens and zen spaces surrounding the area's shrines, castles, and the Imperial Palace. These ancient and sacred spots are seamlessly folded into the scenery, providing a respite from the energy of the city, but close enough to put you directly back onto the pulse of the city when you're ready.
