As soon as we entered the restaurant, the owner's remarks appeared racist and rude, possibly towards Indians. The food we ordered was poor with very bad quality, except for one starter. It greatly lacked that 'authentic' Indian taste that you would expect from any Indian restaurant. However, it was the owner's particularly rude mannerisms that left the bad taste in... More

Just finished eating lunch and this hidden gem. My husband ordered from the lunch menu and I ordered from the al la carte menu. Both were great! The flavor reminded me of my mom's home cooking. Started off with the chicken samosas. They had a good amount of meat in it. Was very satisfied. Next was the paratha and chicken... More

Having enjoyed outstanding through average Japanese cuisine over a week, Kerala delivered that hit to our taste buds that only authentic Indiian cuisine can! We visit every time we are in Kyoto and the restaurant is always buzzing with locals and visitors. A visit is recommended.

Great service, English spoken, very attentive. Food delicious. Fresh chapati cooked on the spot. Could watch the chefs cooking from behind a window. Pretty pricey, compared to other meals we've eaten in Kyoto, around 6000yen for 2 people.

I visited this restaurant after reading about it in LP Japan. As a vegetarian tourist in Japan, food can be tricky due to the ubiquitous bonito. So we had a night off Japanese food and headed to Kerala instead. There's a range of tasty veggie friendly dishes on offer (and plenty of curries for meat eaters also), the owner speaks... More

We visited this place after a recommendation from a friend. It did not disappoint. We arrived late on in the evening and were told there would be a bit of a wait for food however food arrived promptly and was delicious. We each had fantastic starters and mains and the waiter was very helpful when it came to explaining each... More

After many very good Japanese meals this was a welcome break. Food was very tasty and service was good. Host was a little cold/humourless at first but seem to warm up as the evening progressed.

There are many so-called Indian restaurants in Kyoto. Ignore most of them except for two: the two Ajanta branches, and Kerala. Dinner is too expensive for me so I always come for the lunch sets starting at around ¥900 and going up to supersized luxurious ones for ¥2000 and more. The Indian manager who appears to be in his 30s,... More

A comprehensive menu based around the heart of Northern Indian cuisine, the tandoor oven. We selected grilled meats and curries as well as a number of vegetable dishes and various naan , everything we ate was just what we were hoping for, tasty fragrant Indian food. The salad served with the kebabs was an unexpected bonus ! The service was... More

They have an Indian Hyderabadi chef & food is freshly prepared. The owner is Mahesh who looks after guests personally. The food is as good as you get in the best restaurants in India. Very highly recommended !
