This was on of the most delicious plates we had in Japan. We took chilled udon noodles. They are served with a sauce and many things to put in. The service is good and there's an english menu. You have the possibility to sit on chairs or on the floor (traditional japanese way)

After a morning of temples and walking the Path of Philosophy to Ginkaku-ji we sat down to a well deserved delicious meal. I ordered their speciality of soba noodles with 7 vegetables and cold broth (since it was a hot day), and my husband ordered the same but also with tempura. Be sure to add all of the vegetables and... More

Perfect meal for pre/post Ginkaku-ji & Philosopher's path. Hand made soba with well balanced broth (be sure to use the spices at the table to turn it up a notch or two!). Tempura was quality too!

Perfect soba with wonderful broth (be sure to add all the spices at the table!). Tempura was great too. Convenient location close to Ginkaku-Ji & Philosopher's Path.

Wonderful meal at OmenGinkakuji Honten (おめん銀閣寺本店). We arrived after the lunch rush and was given a table on the 2nd floor. They provided English menus. Ordered 1 lunch set with seasonal vegetable with tempura, served w cold udon noodles & dipping sauce. Was so hungry that we didn't take photos of the signature dish - udon noodles. Also ordered sabasushi... More

This place specializes in udon and it lived up to the expectations. It isn't a cheap place for sure. The udon are served hot or cold. I ordered the handmade udon set for Y 1900. Every table had these spice mixes that one could add to enhance the flavour and spice level. I tasted every spice and it ranged from... More

This place is very near the Silver Temple, so we had a break between temples here. It was friendly and efficient with excellent food. Noodles are the speciality; if you ask for vegetarian broth with the noodles, they will even do that, so the vegetarian went with noodles (though there are other choices). Everyone enjoyed the food and said it... More

The speciality of Myoudai Omen Ginkakuji Honten are Omen noodles which are thick udon noodles, served with either hot or cold broth. I choose it with a hot broth. You basically put everything on the plate inside the broth, you add some japanese spices then dipp the noodles inside the broth and eat. Ginkakuji is definitely the best Omen Noodles... More

Even i'm not a big fan of Udon but I know how is good Udon taste like. For me, I think there are some other places that serve delicious Udon with a lot cheaper price.

Really??? What's the big deal about this place. It was pretty average. I really wanted to love this place since I love udon but it was nothing spectacular. I had the tempura, it was soggy and breading was unimpressive.
