Thanks to Trip Advisor it was easy to find this great restaurant near our apartment in Kyoto. We had a wonderful breakfast then returned for a light dinner. Great service and lovely ambience.

Loved this place. Great service and amazing food. We went there for lunch and got the rice bowls and they were awesome. Also the dessert platter is amazing and all the staff were so lovely and helpful. Would really recommend this place for tourists (in particular because we were ripped off in other kyoto restaurants where they charged us 1000... More

Beautiful modern decor, fantastik food , the tofu was fantastic. This place is busy, so make sure you book. I went for dinner, but there afternoon tea also looks fantastic, highly recommended.

This is a worth visit restaurant. I rarely say this, given that there is about half an hour waiting time, which is standard even if there are tables available. I think this gets you into the relaxing mode of the restaurant. The food is quite good, the service is excellent and the atmosphere awesome. Prices are low. Would i put... More

I arrived around 9am on a weekday and waited 15 min to get seated which was totally worth the wait because I everything I ordered was so good! I sat at the counter and ordered the #1 (the traditional breakfast) which consisted of fish, miso soup, rice, a raw egg and a few other things. The service was very friendly... More

This place is worth going to if you want to see what a traditional Japanese breakfast is like and presented well also. I think its good for what it is, though salty fish and rice isn't really what I want to eat to kick off my day. Service was fine. There's a nice view of a Japanese garden.

This restaurant gets a lot of visitors nowadays so be prepared to come here as early as you can depending on your target meal of the day. We tried the lunch menu and it did not disappoint. For a reasonable price (except for the dessert add-on), you'll get a superb set meal with free rice, miso soup, and service tea... More

We arrived back from touring at 2pm and most restaurants were closed. This looked great from the outside but we were wondering how authentic it would be. Verdict was we loved it. Lunch menu was limited but the salmon bowl was great and my husband loved the beef curry. Staff were friendly so great experience overall.

Staying in City Center

Neighborhood Profile
City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street bring deal hunters and fashionistas out in droves to peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and clubs. A trendy culinary scene and an abundance of local watering holes give the Center its youthful vibrancy. In contrast, the quieter areas of the City Center seem a world away, shielded from noise by the foliage of the public gardens and zen spaces surrounding the area's shrines, castles, and the Imperial Palace. These ancient and sacred spots are seamlessly folded into the scenery, providing a respite from the energy of the city, but close enough to put you directly back onto the pulse of the city when you're ready.
