Just what we needed after eating all this rich and at times strange food for our palets. Delicious ramen soup. I had filleted chicken in a wholesome tasty broth. Great for settling the stomach. Could eat every day. Family ate other flavors and were equally...impressed. Great grilled dumplings too.More

Great small place, seats just 7 people at a counter. Really enjoyed the ramen, and was happy to find a veggie option! My friends enjoyed the Sho-Chu, all at very reasonable prices.

I’ve had a LOT of ramen, from quick and dirty to expensive and fancy. I have nothing to say other than this is the best ramen I ever had. The staff were friendly and their English was great. I left with a happy stomach. Highly...recommend.More

This humble little ramen place felt so warm and inviting, I felt like I was eating at a family member’s kitchen bench. It’s tucked away in a long narrow street but I’m so glad I stumbled upon it! It was close to the hotel I...was staying at and I tried it as a quick dinner on my first night in Kyoto...it was mouthwatering, so delicious and fresh. Best I’ve had in Japan so far! The English translations on the menu were so helpful and the two hardworking staff very patient when it came to me figuring out what yen I needed for the bill. Note - this place is cash only and smaller notes are better than bigger ones. The gyoza was the best I’ve ever had and the whiskey and soda was a great refreshment. I had been thinking about this ramen all week, so of course I had to have it again on my last night in Kyoto. Thank you Ataru Ramen! Delicious, 10/10!More

My GF and I popped in for a late night snack, food was really good and we felt welcome, all the staff were very friendly and happily served us even though they had to turn a lot of their cooking equipment back on. I'd highly...recommend eating here, they're very tourist friendly and optimize the stereotype of the Japanese being friendly and warm welcoming people.More

I’m ashamed to say that at 51 years of age I’d never tried ramen, so I’m not sure how this compares to others, but it was very good indeed. Place is small and atmospheric in a rustic, authentic way. Friendly people, great gyoza (which I...had tried before.) And yes, I am now a ramen devotee.More

We arrived relatively late and tired in Kyoto and wanted to have a quick bite near the hotel, so we just stumbled into this place. It is very small but makes incredibly good ramen and is relatively cheap. Also offers takeaway.

Unlike many ramen shops in busy places (e.g. Tokyo), the owner impressively runs the restaurant by himself and takes his time to make the ramen. The atmosphere is very relaxing and the music is pleasant. The owner is friendly, speaks good English, and is happy...to serve tourists. The ramen itself was fantastic and felt authentic. This restaurant is a small little gem that I'd recommend to anyone.More

If you’re looking for a bowl ramen that doesn’t taste like a whole bag of salt had been poured into it( like most do) then this is your place! The broth is light and delicious without being overly oily and salty! Go try it!

No faults here. The ramen was tasty, couldn't complain especially for the price you pay. Would recommend if you want a cheap quick eat at the counter.
