Funky basement cafe with adequate coffee and milk tea (called chai) and a 400 yen glass of club soda. Interesting wall and a couple of little galleries above. The rest rooms are uncomfortably tiny. The service was ok. There’s a non-smoking area and a non-smoking room. The non-smoking area was smoky and there were only about 3 smokers in the... More

For starters, if you are a non-smoker that has an aversion to cigarette smoke, you should stay away. We arrived and ordered our meal and guests at the table next to us lit up some cigarettes and I started coughing as I get very irritated lungs from cigarette smoke. For that reason alone, I won't be back. We switched to... More

This little "underground" cafe is just wonderful. They have amazingly delicious cakes and their soy latte is wonderful. The whole atmosphere here is great, it feels like a secret getaway. I often take my friends here for a cozy coffee.

A great find in the depths of the old newspaper building. Good food and drink with an awesome atmosphere. Well worth checking out.

This is a neat little cafe in the basement of an old newspaper building. The prices are good and they have several options. The soup that comes with the entrees is very tasty. I highly recommend trying the croque monsieur. Often you will see friends sharing one of their large parfaits. This place is a nice treat if you want... More

I ordered a cake and was told that there was a one drink minimum, so was forced to also order a ¥500 drink. Unfortunately the cake never arrived, so I was left with just the drink which I never wanted in the first place. The room was also very smoky which was uncomfortable. Pro: The decor was nice.

We stumbled upon this place after wanting a change from noodles & needing a glass of good red wine. It was amazing. Essentially a tapas menu (the classics were there) but with a twist towards Japanese flavours & ingredients. Great food, great wine & bill around ¥4000 for two people. The building has a history too & was what UK... More

A nice, big cafe in the basement of a building. It's hard to come across a place like this in Japan that feels like the cafes back home. A place where you can study and relax after a long day of trekking around. I ordered the lunch special of the day which came with a drink, salad, rice and an... More

We recently returned after our first visit a few years ago, and were not disappointed. It's the laid-back atmosphere that I like most. The food is also really good, even by Japan's high standards. Needless to say the service is also great.
