Delicious way to taste Hiroshima's flagship meal, Okonomiyaki.

Soba, egg, green onion, cabbage, pork and plenty of other option goodies topped with Kabayaki sauce makes for a delicious, sharable meal ... especially on a rainy or cold day when you've got the right person to chat with. Be ready, one is enough to share ... unless you're Kobayashi of course, then... read more

After visiting the Hiroshima Castle, I had built up an appetite and headed to Mitchan Sohonten Hatchobori for lunch to try a Hiroshima specialty, okonomiyaki. Just look for an arcade and it’s facing the street. They also have an English menu. I got a seat at the bar which is awesome because you don’t just get your meal, you can... More

Went here with our guide not really knowing what we would be eating but wow delicious !! If you can stand the heat sit at the counter and watch the chef at work, the okonomi-yaki was lovely made even better by watching him prepare it , 3000 yen for 2 with pork .

This was by far one of the best places we have visited in Japan. We had to wait in line for around 10 minutes but it moves fast. Definitely worth the wait! Must try as it could be the original and the best in Hiroshima! Apparently famous according to the locals. We were the only tourists in the place and... More

Big portions, so be ready to share. Had the soba seafood one, and it was amazing! Sampled a few other a la carte menu like the fried rice and beef, but nothing comes close to the Okonomiyaki.

If you go there to eat try to get a seat at the counter, where the cooks are located. We were seated at a table and had only a glimpse of the cooking action. The food was as good as my wife, who lived in Hiroshima in the very early 80's, had said it would be. This restaurant was there... More

This is a great place to try okonomiyaki. It is very crowded at lunch and we waited to be seated. All locals which is a good sign. Sit at the counter and you can see the cooks constructing it. They show you a schematic in English of the layers: crepe, cabbage, fried noodles, lard (actually bacon), egg and you can... More

The portion was massive! I got the recommended one with cabbage squid pork soba prawns rice cake....I sat at the bar table to watch them make it and asked for the okonomiyaki to be served on the hot plate. It does its job in keeping it heated. I really struggled to finish it though making it less enjoyable. I recommend... More

You should take Okonomiyaki as you visit Hiroshima. Okonomiyaki is the Japanese soul food. It's a good taste food because you can choice various topping. For example pork, egg, seafood, noodle. I recommend you this Okonomiyaki restaurant in Hiroshima. You can enjoy exotic food at clean space. It cost about 8$.

My wife's parents (who live in Nagano prefecture in central Honshu) dined at this okonomiyaki-ya when they visited Hiroshima 10 years ago...and recommended it to us. We weren't disappointed. The okonomiyaki we had was first rate. The restaurant opened in 1950 and the fact it is still around indicates our food experience was no fluke.
