Our first meal in Sapporo and it did not disappoint us at all! If you are used to spicy things, go for the spiciest level, because for us even that level is not spicy at all. Instead, the spiciest level was more flavorful so is...suited us better.More

Went to try out this soup curry as I have seen quite a number of food bloggers raving about it. It was about 10 Minutes of walk from my hotel (Odori station) and we were walking in the heavy blizzard with 2 young kiddos. We...ordered for ourselves and my 5yo. It stated ‘not spicy’ for my kid however when we tested the soup, it was somewhat spicy and my kid refused to eat it. So pls do bear in mind the soup base is kind of spicy 🌶 for our orders, it was delicious. Portion wise was really big so if you are a small eater, maybe you can share with your friend/spouse. Taste wise, it was 9/10. Ambience 7/10. Family friendly 7/10. Overall, I am satisfied with the food. A unique dish indeed.More

Firstly, I have tried Garaku in the past but nothing could make me wait for 1-2 hours in the freezing cold for Garaku's soup curry. I'm glad I left the queue outside Garaku and went to try Suage's soup curry instead. The queue at Suage...moved quite quickly..approximately 15-20 minutes, considering I went during peak hour for dinner. A gentlemen took everyone's order whilst we were in the queue (ask for the English menu if you can't read Japanese). Having said that, there was still a bit of wait before I got my soup curry with shiretoko chicken (with level 3 spiciness). Any piping hot soup curry after being in the blistering cold for 1.5 hours is a welcoming sight. Flavor wise, it does hit the spot although in terms of soup texture / consistency, I still prefer Garaku's thicker version. This is not standard Japanese curry so naturally the flavor is slightly watered down (it's soup curry not SEA curry, people!). Suage's soup curry is unique in its own way and I like how Ican still taste each ingredient without being overwhelmed by the soup curry. One thing to note - this establishment only accepts cash. I'll be sure to order the Furano pork next time. Oh yes, they have 2 other shops within the vicinity, Suage2 and Suage3.More

I’m used to flavorful, spicy curry and this is far from it, the curry broth doesn’t have enough flavor for my liking. The menu is very simple with the usual meat and some seafood. The amount of time you spend lining up is not worth...the taste for sure, it’s a good experience as it’s one of Hokkaido’s signature dishes. The staffs can communicate in English.More

The best soup curry outlet by far that i've tried in sapporo. The soup alone can bring you into high heavens. With a variety of toppings & the level of spiciness, you can never go wrong trying this outlet. Prices are reasonable enough for the...budget conscious tourist. The place can be easily accessible from any part of sapporo city by any mode of transportation. As usual, long queue is a common sight for this famous restaurant. You will never get disappointed If you can overcome the cold winter waiting in line for your turn to try this place. Really delicious & worth trying for.More

This is not a standard of Japanese curry where they normally add as source in pork/chicken katsu meal or a thick n strong flavour South East Asia kind of curry. It is a lite curry soup with dark brown color where the taste will make...you comeback again. For level of spice, if you are from SEA go for strong or even maximum. 😅 This is a must try local dish when you are visiting Sapporo where located in down town city and for sure very crowded and need passion to get your turn. For sure you will never regret and comeback again for more.👍👍More

You will not be disappointed with the soup curry here. I got a basic option with chicken, lots of veggies and a side of rice. Oh boy it was so tasty. Just what I needed to warm me up on a wet day in Sapporo....The restaurant was a bit hard to find. It’s off the main road down a smaller street. Staff were nice and fast with service. Would definitely return here if I was in Sapporo againMore

Having tried another popular soup curry recommended in Japanese magazines, I have very high expectations of Hokkaido soup curries. This brand has several outlets. We went to the original but was full. Told to walk 1 minute to the next outlet. I find the curry...slightly too watery for my liking. My husband prefers this version to the other famous one we tried.More

Was skeptical having curry in Japan as Japanese Curries are notorious for being sweet nothing like any other the curry it should be. After reading that Hokkaido is famous for their Soup Curry, we just had to try it. No regards and recomended. The soup...curry was awesome and priced reasonably too. Took the max spicy (no. 6). Any south asia will not deemed it as too spicy. So go for it.....More

Very solid soup curry place. Happy we were able to park nearby at an underground lot. Happy we didn't have to wait long in line on a Sunday night. The meat quality was excellent and the vegetables were flavorful. The soup curry did not disappoint...but was a little bit oily. The rice was not great, but fine. Maybe it had been cooked in a big batch and sitting for a while. The pear lassi had a strong pear flavor and was quite good. I'm glad I tried it.More

The cultural norm in Japan is that patrons would normally order 1 set per person. As we were a party of 6 and 2 of my family members were small eaters we ordered 5 sets instead of 6. The waitress didn’t raise an issue out of... More
