We live in China for two years sonwe are used to some local food, atmosphere and service. This restaurant was by far the worst in terms of service (waiters were telling us we could not order the famous lamb soup), the food took forever to arrive so we were constantly eating one dish and when it was finished the next... Tucked away among a myriad of shops with all kinds of products and services is this gem of a place. If you love lamb and if you can take the relatively crowded and apparently unhygienic looking set up, you cannot miss this place. You are given a large bowl and a few buns. You tear them up to the size... More

Heard so much about this place before even getting on the plane to China! So upon visiting Xi'an, I knew to go there should I get to the Bell Tower. Upon getting off the bus, I could see the sign. This restaurant serves other dishes as well and is reasonably comfortable as compared to those at the muslim quarter. My advice is... More

Yangrou Paomo is a lamb soup on top of bread. It is Xi’an famous local dish. We went to Tong Sheng Xiang as soon we walked into Muslim Quarter. I noticed many photos on the wall with the restaurant owner and famous TV personalities and entertainers. We wanted to have Yangrou Paomo with the option of shredding bread ourselves. We... More

Being in the midst of a culinary tour of China, we tried to do as much research as we could to find the best restaurant in Xi'An to experience the most celebrated local dish, yangrou paomo (mutton meat with pancake, or as I would call it, noodle soup with mutton). I have no doubt that Tong Sheng Xiang, next to... More
