If you are looking for a western menu, you could do much worse than the St. Louis. Atmosphere is excellent - candlelight at each table with the house lights turned down makes for a relaxing dinner. Menu is a mix of western and Chinese items. Salads are very generous - easily enough to share. Soups were well received. Steak was... More

We were here on Chinese Valentine's Day. I am not a huge fan of this resto's decoration. The service is ok but the server just turned off lights and lighted candles for our table, which is disappointing,do not ask our opinion. I ordered Cod and some deep fried cheese and salad, none of them is good enough, the price is not low.

Our trip to China was great, but this restaurant let us down. Poor service, lack of understanding, the only experience during all trip to get a minus ...

Criminally under-rated (see below) this restaurant has long been one of my favourites in Xi'an, but it's been a while since I've had the opportunity to get here, so it was a real treat to come back and experience something close to Western standards once again. As usual the lights go down at 7.30 to be replaced by intimate candlelight,... More

On a month long tour of China. After weeks of eating local cuisine thought it would be nice to try something different. I loved in Portugal as a child (my mother is Portuguese) so wanted to try salt fish and other traditional dishes. Unfortunately the pasteis de bacalhau were on the menu but they didn't have any in stock. We... More

Last night three foreigners who are residents in Xian had dinner at the St Loius Portuguese restaurant in Xi'an. Food was mediocre at best, looked good but lacked flavour. The service was 100% Chinese. There was a long wait between individuals getting their food. My wife had finished her starter before mine arrived and ditto for the main course. Also... More

I had dinner with my girl here. The manager reception was very nice, he speaks fluent english and is very kind. The wines are expensive but the food is not very expensive and it is very good.

If you are living in China as we are, even if you adore Chinese food, you are ready for a change. The only Portuguese restaurant outside of the former Portuguese colony of Macao near Hong Kong, Saint Louis Portuguese provides that welcome change. Wonderful steak in mustard sauce, garlic roast chicken, calamari and flan were some of the treats we... More

This restaurant is a very good choice in terms of food. The ambience is exceptional and really very accomodating. Separate rooms and WLAN are available. The choice of food is rich and probably oriented to Macau dishes. Some Portuguese favourites are not available however (espetada mixta de carne, frango assado). The selection of red wines is large and many good... More
