Dumpling Fast Food

With a (small) view of the Bell Tower, it's a pity this restaurant looks more like a fast food canteen to me. We especially went there for dumplings, and ordered a set (32RMB) which contained funny colored dumplings. We especially went there for dumplings, and ordered a set (32RMB) which contained funny colored dumplings. Without trying dumplings in other places in Xi'an, I think the food was decent and not "horrid" as mentioned in another review.

We read about this place in the lonely planet guide and then read reviews here on tripadvisor and thought we were in for a treat. Lonely Planet said this restaurant has been around for 100 years and I can verify that because that's about how old the dumplings we ordered tasted. We had 3 different kinds and all were terrible.... Thanks to another reviewer we found it easily between the drum and bell tower just up the stairs from Starbucks. We ordered from the pictures as there was no English. Under 200¥ for our family of 7. I recommend the fried dumplings that are purchased at a separate counter in the dining room - the kids loved them. All in... More

We had a small group dinner here - they brought many types of dumplings and included a good variety of vegetarian ones. This may not be the best restaurant in town but we all liked it a lot. Service was very good and the food excellent.

We tried this place on the recommendation of friends. It's a good value for money dumpling place and you will never be able to finish all the food in front of you. However, it isn't the best dumpling place in the world and the menu is in Chinese so unless you have help, you will have to go with faith.... More

My husband and I came in December when it was relatively empty. It took us two tries to find this restaurant because the map on the tripadvisor app is incorrect. The restaurant is actually located in between the Bell Tower and the Drum Tower. First, go down the escalator. Then, just past the Starbucks, go up some stairs and it... More

This Xian restaurant is known across China for its dumplings. There are two sites in Xian, we went to the one downtown near the Bell Tower. A little help may be needed for those who don't speak Chinese. At the first floor, you can order a limited set of dumplings a la carte. But you probably want to go upstairs... More

IF you like dumplings, this is the place to go. They are fresh, brought to you steaming hot and the varieties seem endless. It is quite the experience. We had a fixed setting which i think is typical for most tourists. The amount of food was overwhelming. Just when we thought that was it, in came two more plates. I... More

We visited this restaurant as part of a Viking River Cruise tour. The dinner and menu had been organized ahead of time. As we were a group of well over 100 people, the tables were setup for us prior to our arrival Each table was well appointed and attractive. Upon each dumpling entrée being provided to our tables, another person... More

OK having read all the bad reviews here, we ended up going anyhow, with low expectations and were very pleasantly surprised. Perhaps we got lucky. The waitress spoke neglish, ordering was simple, the beer was more tasty than the usual Tsing Tao (I thiink a special edition) and the food after a slow star kept on coming until I now... More
