If you want to experience traditional atmosphere of Russian restaurants from back in the days and try authentic high quality healthy Russian cuisine, this is the place to visit! Fresh traditional Russian salads, local pickled mushrooms, farm raised duck, lamb and veal, the most tender Luce fish kotlets and traditional Russian alcoholic drinks (strong but one of the kind!) were... Visited Chekhov for a dinner with a friend and we had a wonderful time. A small and cosy restaurant with a friendly and comfy atmosphere. The service is very friendly, polite and attentive. The food was lovely, Russian dishes, big choice, very tasty! Deserts were outstanding! Definitely will be back when in Saint Petersburg again and highly recommend to visit!... More

The place is very atmospheric, waitresses dressed in 19th century imperial russia maid costumes, the service efficient and not too much, live piano on fridays and saturdays and the best chicken kiev I have had. It is so good that over the years (we have been visiting for many years) I am always tempted to try sth else as main... More

We followed our Lonely Planet guide visiting this restaurant as it was highly rated for Russian cuisine. I reserved by phone and were met by friendly staff traditionally dressed. My wife, daughter and I loved all our dishes and all fish was beautifully fresh. I loved my borscht and my chicken Kiev. There was a good wine selection and prices... More

Very good food, nice old style interior. Great and very friendly service..,. Good value for money. Worth the taxi drive if you stay in the centre. Will surely be back when next time in St Petersburg. Thanks to the team for making it an enjoyable dinner

Looks like a simple version of Cafe Pushkin in Moscow. Place was full on Thursday evening (mainly tourists from the ferry). Menu looks very impressive and it was difficult to make a choice. However, I was slightly disappointed with the food as I have expected more. We ordered Olivier salad and Chicken Kiev. It took us an hour to get... More

The staff was very friendly and accomodating and spoke great English. The food was very nice (although next time I think I won't get the tenderloin-it was nice but I should have gone for food you can only really get in Russia). The ambiance is nice and classy with classical music playing.

Quiet little dacha-style restaurant tucked away outside the city center.  You'll need to understand Cyrillic to find the sign for this hidden gem, but the food is well worth the hunt. Beautiful 19th century decor, paired with classical music. English-speaking staff. House specialties: beef tenderloin with potatoes and mushroom cream sauce (not exactly stroganoff) and chicken kiev.

Closed to the area in the liberty style, this russian restaurant offers tipical tasty dishes. The environment is warm and welcoming, russian style. Excellent food, good price. Don't miss herrings, mushroom soup and salmon trout. Very clean bathroom with singing birds

Eating at Chekhov was part of my Travel All Russia included lunches. I was pleasantly surprised as I am a vegetarian and I usually figure I will forego a meal when it is built into the tour itinerary. At Chekhov's, they made an effort and didn't just give me a plate of cold or plain, steamed veggies. They actually made... More
