Great place, close to the backbone of Nevsky avenue.
Was there in the middle of February 2020, they serve truly Russian national cuisine.
Had a borscht with a lard on bread, very tasty, the latter is perfect.
Also had a Kiev cutlet, delicious, no questions at all, but the portion is little bit small.
Local moonshines (or tinctures) are great!
Price is above moderate, but is affordable.
Communication with the waiter Vlad was perfect, that's the reason why I'm leaving my review here.
Highly recommended to visit if you're choosing between Saint Petersburg restaurants.

Good looking restaurant, charming staff, excellent food, definitely a recommended place in St Petersburg.
Traditional Russian recipes are revisited but without straying too far away to become unrecognizable. The borsh is spot on, so is the smoked fish platter. Excellent deserts.
Anastasia was our waitress that evening, and she did a stellar job of keeping us refilled, happy and wanting for more: thank you!

This restaurant was recommended to us by the concierge in the Crowne Plaza hotel on our first night in St Petersburg (13th Feb). We loved it - great food and a laid back vibe.
The service was fabulous and Vlad P our waiter and was really helpful with the recommendations.
We enjoyed it so much we plan to go again on our last evening before we leave St. Petersburg.

The place leaves much to be desired, running around, bustle, waiting at the entrance.
Enter, Waited about 30 minutes for two dishes and drinks, appetizer, dessert and drinks. The dessert, poppy seed cake and minced meat, did not live up to either the prices or expectations. In fact, the cake is dry and the minced meat generally floats in beetroot juice.
The tinctures look like nothing, the color and smell look confident, but the taste is just alcohol, beer without gas, without foam. Once again visited "Banshchikov". It's the kind of place I want to go back to over and over again. I'd like to mention our waiter Daniel in particular. If you can rank his performance on a scale of 10, we all friendly 10. This and thorough knowledge of the dishes (what is in the composition, how is prepared...), attention to each of the guests, sense of humor and speed. And all his recommendations on the choice of dishes were spot on! With waiters like this, the customer orders a lot more than they planned.

Favorite restaurant of Russian cuisine. We visited for the second time, because there was a significant reason - a birthday! The restaurant team greeted us very cordially and hospitably, shared such a wonderful evening with us, and congratulated us very warmly and sincerely! The cuisine is very tasty and varied, mincemeat, dumplings, borscht, veal, dumplings - this is the case when there are no questions or complaints about a single dish! We always take nuts with condensed milk with us! Homemade tinctures are the best! Attentive staff, thanks to Alexey for his tact, friendliness and help on all issues! It is clear that the person loves his job and wants every guest to be satisfied! Thank you very much for a wonderful evening, we were very happy to meet again!

I had some borsch and dumplings with pike perch, halibut, broth, herbs and sour cream. The food was GREAT and price very affordable (the equivalent of 19 euros for this and a beer). Atmosphere is lovely and service is just outstanding! Just wow

I liked everything, from the interior to the menu. When fully seated, it was even quite cozy. We ordered duck, shish kebab, liqueurs from the establishment, carpaccio for an appetizer, everything was very tasty. I would especially like to thank the staff. Everyone, from the greeting girl to the waiters, is extremely polite and friendly. Very attentive to customer preferences. Thank you for everything, we will definitely visit this establishment when we come to St. Petersburg again.

After reading the reviews we decided to have dinner at this restaurant. We reserved a table in advance. We waited for the waiter for about 25 minutes, no one approached us, we tried to call out a couple of times, they ignored us, in the end no one approached us, we left hungry.
On the second day, we decided to give the establishment a chance, but in the end we were very disappointed with the service and food. It’s absolutely not tasty, it’s impossible to drink fusel tincture, in response to our comments, the administrator did not solve the issue in any way, with words, if you don’t like it, don’t eat it, they didn’t eat it. I don't recommend it to anyone.

Stylish interior, excellent staff. But the main thing here is the euphoria of Taste and a new approach to Russian cuisine. Some descriptions raised a question.. Pumpkin salad with sprats.. Do I really want this?)) Now I say “Yes!” Original, interesting, harmonious! Liked everything. We decided not to take desserts, because... We ate too much, and are not fans of sweets, but... we received a compliment from the restaurant for the “Potato” dessert. It was an insidious move by the restaurant))). Now I'm interested in trying other desserts at this place!

I took beef tongue. Served with potatoes and delicious mustard sauce. The seating was full, which is probably why we waited quite a long time for the waiter.
I didn't like the work of the staff at the entrance. They didn't even say goodbye, etc. And the employee who is responsible for the wardrobe just sits there, you hang up/pick up the jacket yourself….

To put it mildly, I do not recommend it! The request was extremely simple. I called and wanted to place an order, and for this order to be given to the courier, as I did not have the opportunity to drive up myself, the restaurant’s delivery time was not satisfactory. To which I was told that the information would be passed on to my colleagues and they would call me back. I said that, if possible, I needed prompt feedback, although it was not clear what was unusual in my request. In the end, no one called back. Nobody! They just scored. So, dear restaurant employees, delivery and takeout customers are also your customers, and they should be treated the same as a restaurant visitor. You have lost a client. Service is zero. Conceit is through the roof.
Not receiving feedback and being left without an order is unacceptable for any establishment.
This lack of service undermines customer confidence and negatively impacts the overall restaurant experience. I hope that the administration of the establishment will pay attention to such situations and the employees who occupy their jobs.

A very pleasant restaurant, Russian cuisine in a new interpretation. I was there in July, I only got around to writing a review now, but I can’t help but write. How delicious it was for me, from beef cheeks with pearl barley and steak with radishes and cucumbers. I really liked Borodino bread and kvass. I would especially like to note and say thank you to the manager Elena for her attentiveness and friendliness towards visitors. I recommend everyone to visit Banshchiki, keep it up!

Promoted restaurant. My husband and I came at about 3 pm for lunch without a reservation; there was not a long line. But everyone was quickly seated.
Liked everything. Both the kitchen and the service. They serve quickly and give compliments. I really liked the tinctures. All the dishes we ordered were delicious. The presentation is beautiful. I recommend.
