We ate dinner here on our first night at this hotel. As other reviewers have mentioned, ‘Caviar Bar’ is a definite misnomer. This restaurant aims to be a formal, small (eleven tables) Russian fine dining experience. The resident guitarist and violinist were excellent and added to the ambience but don't expect an intimate and romantic feel. The service wasn’t great... More

Dear Top Trippers Thank you for taking the time to write about your recent experience at Caviar Bar. The 'Bar' is the traditional name given to the caviar trolley, however I do understand why visitors would get confused and we are looking at plans to install a bar concept in the future. The Egg in Egg is our signature dish... More

Interesting fact...it is extremely difficult to get Beluga caviar even in Russia. I was aware that it was banned from further import to the US in 2005 but it is highly limited in Russia and requires a specific license to make it available to consumers. At the Caviar Bar in the Grand Hotel you can sample this rarity along with... More

Well this was the most expensive meal ever. I do get to go out to nice places all over....and this was the one...but worth it. So if you want vodka and caviar ( little of it). And great music....and want to pay 200 bucks per person then absolutely go there !!! Unless you are very rich don't go there unless... More

Situated inside the Grand Hotel L'Europe this sumptuous restaurant is misnamed as it really is about fine dining and in no way can be considered a "bar". The menu is somewhat small, but the choices are varied and our small party all agreed that it was perfectly presented and all dishes were delicious. The presentation alone is worth the visit.... This bar is always busy, with foreigners and locals alike. With huge leather high back chairs, and a granite and marble bar offering the world's most expensive and best caviar. Smokey as it is allowed, but if you can get passed that, it is a great lace to have a drink. And in summer there is an outside patio.

The setting is reasonably intimate yet dramatic and the service is attentive, if a little overly formal. This is certainly a restaurant rather than a bar and not necessarily the place to pop into for caviar and a quick drink (the vodka list is also great). The experience is quite theatrical and you are intended to take your time so... More

Fantastic service and great tasting menu. Expect to spend more than you might like but the cost seemed worth it.

We had the triple caviar with blinis and vodka as a starter, borsch soup in between and then the boeuf stroganoff...excellent. Very good service. If you stay in the hotel (Grand Hotel Europe), for your first russian impressions, this might help a lot!

We had a great dinner here two days ago; I do not recognise the criticism expressed in other reviews... Maybe we were lucky and others were not. The place is small (11 tables) and is not really a "bar", but a small restaurant, one of many inside the Grand Europe Hotel. The decor is simple, classic, and the staff were... More

Once in a life time dining. The food and atmosphere were worth the expense! We ate the caviar and the egg in egg. Each was sublime in addition to the wonderful food we had lovely entertainment and great service.
