Atmosphere is like in Paris bistro, but the food is pure Russian tradition. Wide asortiment of fish cold cuts, soups, and game (not only) meats. Fast and kind service (not typical for Moscow). Location is near Kremlin. You can’t expect bad surprise here.

The standout feature at Chemodan was the excellent service from the waiter, particularly in addressing my wife’s allergy concerns. The menu was all Siberian so a bit different to the traditional Russian choices elsewhere. The white salmon was absolutely wonderful and cooked to perfection, and...my bear was not as gamey as expected. A bit more expensive than some other places but worth it.More

So if you are just looking to eat Russian food, go to Mari Vana because it is cheaper BUT if you want to say “I ate bear” or if you are looking for Russian food with a romantic atmosphere, Chemodan is pricey but the place...for you!More

Perhaps the first and last time I will ever eat yak, brown bear and cavier in one meal. Interesting building and you feel like an extra in a period Russia film. Putting aside the standard Russia approach to service and failure to raise a smile,...its worth a visit to you foodies who want to taste and experience Russian fine dining.More

Very interesting restaurant in central Moscow where you will eat yak or a meatball of brown bear (minced meat of Sayan bear with cream cowberry sauce buckwheat and white mushrooms). Taste is strong but good. It seems easier to find such a restaurant in Moscow...than in SiberiaMore

Great restaurant with an exclusive menu. The location is easy to get to and the interior looks straight out of a 19th century Russian novel. We had the bear and the elk kotelets which were very good. Also the cisco caviar as an apetizer was...delicious. The restaurant is a bit on the expensive side, but you get what you pay for in terms of quality and service.More

Was travelling through Moscow in early August 2019 and had read up on TripAdvisor about Chemodan. After a long day in Moscow dealing with heat and long lines of tourist in Moscow, having a wonderful dinner at Chemodan was a perfect ending to the day....The menu does not disappoint and the selection is wonderful and intriguing. We started off with the Polar Patridge Pate over toasted brown bread topped with a candied apple. It was amazing! For entrees it was a difficult decision but the Venison with local berry and pine needle sauce caught my attention. It was seared nicely, tender, cooked to perfection. For a side I ordered "Fern" which I had never had and it was fantastic. A bit like green beans. My dinner mate ordered the White Salmon with cream sauce over pasta and it was excellent. The atmosphere is relaxing, and cozy. The service was pleasant. The only downside , our waitress did not speak English. Thankfully I had my Russian acquaintance with me who could translate.More

Choose "Suitcase" for a lunch get- together with family & friends. It is a beautifully decorated restaurant with cuisine based on Siberia. A short walk from Arbart Metro station. They had a "Business Lunch" special which looked like excellent value. Menu photo attached. It was...three courses plus a drink for 1100 rubles (US$17.50, Australian A$25). First course was a Salad. Choice of Salad with Calamari or what looked like a Greek salad. Members of our group of 5 chose both. I had Calamari Salad. It was so fresh and tasty. Probably the best salad I have ever had. Next course was a Traditional Russian Soup. No choice, just the one soup. It was a soup with some grassy stuff (sorry if I am being too technical) and cream. Again an excellent dish. Final course was a choice of Pancakes (Blin) with minced Elk Meat; Chicken Meatballs with creamy mushroom sauce; grilled whitefish. With this course you had a choice of side dish - mashed potato with herbs or green beans with carrot and cauliflower. I chose the Chicken Meatballs with mashed potato. Without doubt the best chicken meatballs I have ever eaten. The view of the others was that their choices were all fresh tasting & superb. The drink choice was Rosehip tea, fruit drink (Compote), a glass of red or white wine or vodka. All up A$125 for 5 people. That is the Business Lunch special. The standard menu is much more expensive. If you add 2 desserts and 5 tea or coffee it was another 2050 rubles (A$45). In summary, the tastiest of food and exceptional value, if you stick to the Lunch Special. Good selection of wine and excellent professional service. Absolutely recommended. One day, when we want to splurge, we will return for a full meal on the main menu. I noticed one dish on the main menu that was 3000 rubles (US$48, A$68). I am sure we will be poorer but not disappointed.More
