This restaurant is definitely not worth the money and bother to book it with a rude hostess. It seems the place is always booked, however it's just inflating its own worth. The food is rather mediocre, the service is unprofessional, the atmosphere is ordinary without any particular ambience. Yes, the view is great, but what else? Another perfect example of... More

Went to this rooftop restaurant on a hot night and found the sun shades not functioning at all so for half the table the sun is directly in your eyes and the whole table is getting sunburned during dinner. Even the great view doesn't make this worth it. Food was tasteless. Really can't say more about it. Service was slow... More

The problem with many Moscow restaurants is that they try to be something the can't live up to. Karlson is a typical example of this. The food is not good enough, the service is not good enough and in my view the atmosphere, despite excellent views of the city, is dull. I ordered a starter with tuna that I found... More

I went here on business in Nov 2015 The setting was lovey with fabulous view from this top floor conservatory style restaurant. I really enjoyed the experience, but the veal was a little under cooked for my taste. Likes : Very good food,Views, Service, English Menu, Seating (Sofas), atmosphere Dislikes : Veal was a little under done for my taste,... More

One of the best views of Moscow from the open terrace. A little bit pricier than it's food and service implies, but not bad. Food was nice and wealthy, but did not taste exceptional. Staff was attentive and friendly, but some minor issues were still there - e.g. had to wait for the main course for more than half an... More

Karlson is a restaurant named after a famous book Karlson on the roof by Astrig Lindgren. The restaurant is on the top floor of the building with beautiful views, sunset and veranda… where you can enjoy drinks before dinner or the whole dinner during summer months. The restaurant is very large and has an open cooking bar in the middle... More

I wasn't paying but my friend and local entrepreneur chose this restaurant for a summer evening meal in Moscow. It feels like a giant conservatory but there are plenty of seats outside as well as in. It was very busy so book in advance but it did not feel crowded and the service managed to keep up. Our food and... More

It's worth coming here for the views alone but food was a little hit and miss. Whilst it tasted fine the portions felt pretty small and many of the group came away still feeling hungry. Having said that the service was both efficient and fast (something we don't seem to have seen in many other restaurants in Moscow). We were... More

Neighborhood Profile
It wouldn’t be a mistake to call Pyatnitskaya street the main axis of this neighborhood – turn one direction and you’ll find the Tretyakov Gallery in Lavrushinsky Lane, turn another – a hip Scandinavian restaurant. Old churches now embrace contemporary life with style and grace. Going to Zamoskvorechye is like visiting during the times when it was a medieval Russian quarter, but with a modern twist of 20th century buildings pushing themselves into the 21st century with new businesses opening weekly. Stroll down Pyatnitskaya to taste dozens of global cuisines – from Ukrainian and Georgian to Thai and American.
