This was our first visit to the Starlight Diner and we were impressed with the service and the food. We were celebrating my husband's birthday and he selected the meatloaf, classic American comfort food, which came with mashed potatoes and fresh vegetables. The draft beer was excellent and the milkshakes were good. Would recommend to anyone looking for an American... More

I am the fan of StarLight for 15... Or more years! Always good welcome , best burgers and famously tasty milk shakes ! Funny but I am more vegan vegetarian, but I visit Starlight for falafel, salads and breakfast with samolina ! Best wishes ! Visit Starlight while you in Moscow!

With there 1950's restaurant diner look I was quite surprise to see this kind of restaurant in Russia. Really nicely located near the cinema and subway. Food very American and delicious with the 50's and 60's music playing in the background. The waitresses dressed like in the 50's was so funny ! I enjoyed it and would recommend ...

The girls who work here wear cheerleaders uniforms, they speak English, and the food is great American food! Thank God. In a city where good ol American food is hard to find this place is an Expats dream. Open 24 hours and has great milkshakes.

This place hasn't changed a bit over the last ten years! It's a very typical American diner with burgers, chicken, salads, etc. The Caprese Burger was one of the best things I've ever had, and my husband said the French Onion Soup was also killer. The service was neither good nor bad. Just don't come here unless you want a... More

I have been visiting Starlight for the past 20 years. Ownership has changed over the years, but the service and food have generally been reliable if not fancy. Their Thanksgiving turkey dinner is quite good. However, last night's meal with my family will be the last one for a long time. Soviet-style attitude from the waitress. Burgers were cold, with... I have spent many a relaxing Sunday morning over brunch here. The setting is in a beautiful little park just inside the Garden Ring, and is quite peaceful. They serve standard American diner fare and it is all good. Only twist is that they also have a full bar so bloody mary's/mimosas pair nicely with your brunch. In warm weather... More

The place is quiet and cozy and most of all the food is delicious and tasty. Nice place for hanging with friends. Interior design is really nice.

Description
It's most certainly American and those red booths are the real thing - the only Russian elements here are the electric sockets. You'll hear more English spoken in this diner than anywhere else in Moscow, which adds to the otherworldly home-away-from-home experience. The menu spins out all the classics in authentic style, including huge waffles, burgers and giant milkshakes made with Oreo cookies, massive breakfast and huge filter coffees from the pot. American diners are now de rigeur in Moscow but Starlites are still the original and best. They now have four 24 hour venues with the original being the giant silver truck in a leafy garden near Mayakovskaya metro (Bol. Sadovaya 16), Oktyabrskaya metro (Korovy Val, 9a), metro Universitet (Vernadskogo Ave., 6) although our favourite is the latest spacious venue on Stastnoy bulvar - metro Pushkinskaya.

Staying in Patriarch Ponds

Neighborhood Profile
Patriarch Ponds
When you need to hide from the city’s noise and traffic but don’t want to stroll too far, Patriarch Ponds is the place to be. Calm water, friendly swans and ducks with beautiful early 20th century architecture in the background make this neighborhood a place you’ll never want to leave. Besides stylish bars and restaurants scattered in the streets around the pond, you’ll be able to enjoy museum life from modern art to a former private apartment of Mikhail Bulgakov. As most of the businesses are open late, stop for a cocktail and then stroll by the pond to rent a boat and row yourself to the middle of the “bowl” as the locals call it.
