A warm welcome on a cold February afternoon, followed by an excellent meal--mushroom soup, pike caviar with blinis, warm salad with rabbit liver, duck leg with potato pancakes and caramelised apple, pumpkin pancakes and sour cream--in a pleasant ambience.

I would definitely recommend Slavyanskiy as a sample of very good and authentic Russian cuisine. Located in the old downtown, next to Ivan Susanin monument. Don't miss a chance to test 5 in-house-made flavoured vodkas (total 125 ml). Service is fast enough and very friendly.
we likes the location - in the very center of Kostroma. The hotel where lived recommended it to us. The restaurant offers tasty drinks, which they make on their own.

The best reason for foreigners to go to eat there, is that they have a menu in English! Some servers even speak a little English. The blond local brewed beer is not bad at all (the taste of the dark one is not very strong)....More
Strangely enough this restaurant is highly ranked. Even considered among the best in town. And frankly speaking that is definitely not the case.
That kind of heavy and too salty food could be consumed only if you're really hungry (which was our case).
We visited this place in May 2017 and were very well welcomed. Great food, everything was fresh and quickly served. We had perch caviar with some tasty khrenovoukha drink, schi soup and a whole carp which was super tasty!
