About

Café Bulgakov was opened at the time by favour of György Méhes's son, the businessman Elek Nagy, and it was managed by Ferenc Kovács gastro-lover and the now retired János Dénes Orbán literateur and tavern-keeper. The establishment was sanctified on 12th June, 2002 by the lord of Hungarian poetry, Transylvania-lover György Faludy. Today, Café Bulgakov is one of the most popular literary cafés of Transylvania. Café Bulgakov is a special meeting point, where gastronomy, music and literature come upon. Café Bulgakov is a good place to be.

Not the same anymore

I have been visiting this place for food for many years. It has been my favourite because of the authentic hungarian food. Until mu recent visit. I have ordered the smoked pork joint (mester csulok) and received a slice of whatever really greasy meat. On top of it when I tried to explain the waitress that I have food allergies she reacted with an attitude. Guess I will have to find another place to eat on my next visit. And the restrooms still look very poor.

Bulgakov Cafe Steals the Show (Book Ahead for Papricaș Perfection!) 🇭🇺 🇷🇴

Bulgakov Cafe stole our hearts with its cozy atmosphere right in central Cluj. This place gets popular, so heads up - reservations are a good idea, especially during peak times. We tried the "Papricaș de pui" (chicken paprikash) and it was delicious - perfectly comforting and bursting with flavor. Highly recommend Bulgakov Cafe if you're looking for a charming spot with tasty Hungarian food in Cluj. Just remember to book ahead to avoid a wait!

One of the worst restaurants we have come across. A very insulting experience. My wife and I arrived at the restaurant at 9pm. We ordered a drink and food cocktail we were given slow and poor service and when the food arrived it was cold.when we finished to eat the main cold dinner we asked for the dessert menu, but to our surprised the waitress told as the kitchen is closed We were amazed since it wasn't 10 even and they did not give service anymore. we told the waitress our opinion on since they accepted us and started giving us service and food they prevented us from going to eat and enjoy the meal experience to the end elsewhere Shame and disgrace behavior we did not encounter in any restaurant.

Worst experiente

The staff is very impolite. We made a reservation and after we arrived there, we asked one of the guys to tell us if another table of two would be free în the meantime, so we could move, only if possible. He raised his voice at us and then turned his back and just ignored us. I was with my wife and he almost yelled at us. We left immediately.

The food was Good. The plates are delicious. Cheese, sausage, peppers, eggplant salad and so on. The burgers with plescavita on the other hand, was ok. I expected more from it. Overall a good experience

Everything except the bread was at a low quality, the pickles for example are bought from the store. No personal touch and because of it the food had no soul and taste.
