The service was very good, the waitress was really sweet, and the delivery of the food fast (!!) compared to 3/4 or the restaurants in Cluj.
The decoration was cute, bistro style, simple but nice
The taste of the food was very nice, the proportion a little bit small.
The price ratio quality was correct, the quality looked actually very good and the price in the moderate range.
The menu has various of simple dishes

After a 5 years break, I've came back to Cluj on a business trip and I had a recommendation from a friend: Bistro 1586. If you get there by car, my advice is to call the bistro and ask them to open the gates so you can get the car inside. Otherwise you'll get stuck in traffic. But once you get there, you simply relax. This bistro is in an old house downtown Cluj, with stunning interior (for instance, you have a dining room where the table and chairs and above the old bread furnace, on a glass tile). The food is Wow, the ambiance relaxing, and you get a lot of smiles from the staff. Basically, doesn't matter if you go there for just a coffee, or a business lunch, or an evening with friends, you will feel great. Maximum point for the staff and maybe even better for the food (with a special emphasis on the deserts). I had the gulas (rich in flavor and aroma), the kurtos (which is a combination of kurtos colac and creme brulee, but also apple pie on the bottom) and the varga papanasi (I hope I got the name right) - something amazing in terms of flavor, however which is not the classic "papanasi". My only problem was I had to leave Cluj, before sampling more of their cuisine, because as I understood from the staff the items in the menu change depening on the season.
Definitely a place to revisit during Winter - just to see what the new food tastes like.

We found this place by accident for lunch.
They have a short day menu with two starters and two mains but I found this a comfort as it means the food is fresh.
The patio is lovely, electro swing music, friendly staff with good English, a menu that accommodates to allergens and good value.
We just had two soups and two lemonades but we will be back.

A mixture of fine dining and traditional Transylvanian cousine served with warmth and smile in the heart of the city, friendly atmosphere, pleasant location, moderate prices. Best chicken salad ever, children loved the home-made vegetable soup. Kürtőskalács stuffed with crème brûlée one of its kind, a must try. Recommend for couples and families :)

Food was good and location was cozy, BUT…
How can you include tips on the tab and not even ask the customer if he or she wants to leave a tip in the first place and how much?!
Unacceptable staff behavior which pretty much felt like being robbed. Ruined the whole experience.

Service so poor even with only six tables in the restaurant the four staff I saw were totally absent for periods of over 30 mins at a time. 40 mins after we finished our meal before anyone came we near our table. Don’t go

Great food in friendly surroundings. A great wine selection and helpful staff. The lava cake for dessert was excellent. The Confit duck was much nicer than most we have had in France and the pork in green peppercorn sauce also delicious.
