For 21 years in Cluj-Napoca, Tokyo Japanese Restaurant is the only place in town, besides a hotel, that is classified with 5*. Furthermore, Tokyo Japanese Restaurant is singular in Romania by following the original Edomae Sushi Style. Our owner and executive chef is Japanese Master Chef TSUCHIYA Naofumi, who is cooking his authentic style cuisine. Our recommendations are Tasting menu and Sushi Omakase Course. Both courses are serving 11 kinds of exquisite and beautiful dishes and deserts. Our menu also includes authentic Japanese drinks such as: Japanese beer (Asahi), Premium sake (Gynjo). As a tradition, our sushi chefs are participating annually at World Sushi Cup and Washoku World Challenge, organised in Japan, having great accomplishments. That been said, we are kindly expecting You on Marinescu Street, number 5 to enjoy our refined and original dishes!

Although I've been to many Japanese restaurants, Tokyo remains the best one and the only one I know I can confidently return to for the best food, atmosphere and experience ever. The food was delicious and fulfilling, whenever I eat here I feel like angels are hugging my stomach. The service is the best I've ever had at any restaurant ever, the staff is very talented. Our waiter Luca was the best. Polite, attentive and although there were 6 of us he made sure we were all taken care of. He knew the menu through and through and he was able to present all the food that we ordered so beautifully.

I will start my review by saying I have never been welcomed this way in my own house, yet alone in a place where I don’t know anyone.
The whole place is very intimate, very cozy, beyond welcoming, perfectly suited for an amazing dinner. The food was amazing, the variety was wide enough, the presentation ( waiters and plating ) was beyond any expectations you could have. The prices are beyond fair for what you get!
I can easily say this is the place to eat in Cluj and the best place I’ve been to dinner around as a local and as a worker in the domain. Must give a quick shout out to Luca, our waiter who took amazing care of us and his service was way beyond excelent.
Thank you for an amazing night !!!

We had a lovely evening at Tokyo, the whole experience, including the dresses and manners of the servers were on point.
Unfortunately they didn't have ramen when we were there, and one of the servers was new so there was a small misunderstanding when explaining the menu, but the staff was otherwise very attentive and we ordered something else. The chefs are cooking at the bar and are open to questions about the food, which is neat.
I had a coconut tea before the meal, served in a beautiful tea set. We had 2 Japanese Salmon Plates and noodles, the plates were amazing, a great selection of japanese sushi, soup, salad, etc. I suggest getting this if you can't decide or want to get a little bit of everything. It was very tasty, fresh and filling.
We got a free appetizer with our food for the inconvenience at the start, it wasn't expected but nice nonetheless.
Make sure to make a reservation beforehand, otherwise you'll probably get seated at the bar, especially on Friday - Sunday nights.

Our family decided to try out ramen Friday at Tokyo restaurant and it was great.
The food was delicious, the atmosphere was relaxing and the whole staff was very kind.
I want to say special thanks to Sneha, who wen out of her way to make our stay a super nice experience. When she saw the kids she did special adjustments to be sure the food was kids friendly (like putting some of the spices on the side, or splitting the 'big ramens' into two smaller size portions so we can easily share). Her kindness and attention to details made the night extra special.

Definitely the best ramen I’ve ever had, by far. We also had sushi, which was very high quality, both the fish and the rice. Luca was very attentive throughout the evening, brought us starters and digestives on the house and he presented the food beautifully! We will definitely be back very soon!

We have been their clients since they opened over 20 years ago as the first Japanese restaurant in Cluj. They were the first and are still the best place to go for quality and reasonably priced Japanese cuisine in Cluj. Generous servings of delicately balanced Japanese dishes that deeply satisfy the palette. Time for another visit!

From far best sushi in Cluj Napoca. Every time I came here the food was very tasty, waiters very professional and the ambient very warm.
Every time I want to eat a good sushi I came here. Never disappoint.
You should past by if you want to taste a little taste from Japan food.

To me, this is a very good high end restaurant. The waitress, Sneha, was very welcoming and warm with us, and her recommendations were spot on.
Food is superb, the fish is fresh and nicely seasoned, and the sweets flavourfull without them being too overpowering. To me, overall, amazing experience. I would say that this is a go to place, if you want to impress someone in Cluj.

The food was very good
The staff was very attentive. A bit too much for my taste. Once they brought our food they would hover around and took the plates immediately after we finished. That made me feel rushed even though the place was not busy.
But yea, food amazing, friendly staff.

Excellent place! Enjoyed the food and the service! Could say it has the best ramen in town! The staff was profesional and friendly; They kept an authentic Japanese cuisine that harmonized with the decor and music!
If you love Japanese culture and food you should definitely check it out!

I visited this place for lunch and I was pleasantly surprised by the quality/price ratio, especially in a city like Cluj! I ordered the Business Lunch, which honestly felt like a 5 course meal, as it contained a large variety of Japanese dishes (fish, soup, vegetables, sushi and even dessert)! I would definitely recommend this place to my friends.

Best food and service we have come across in terms of Japanese restaurants in Romania. We tried their Naruto Ramen, which was incredible, a few starters and also dessert. The creme brulée was out of this world. Even with such great food, the best part of this experience was the serving. Cristian was welcoming and kind, he presented us in detail every single dish and he made sure everything was perfect the entire evening. This place deserves its number 1 rating in the city.

Excellent food and customer service. It's our 6th time coming here and they never disappoint. The food is always perfectly made, the waiting time is always the adorable and they gave us some appetisers for free!
Many thanks to Cristian, who has always been very nice, knowledgeable and helpful. This restaurant deserves 5 stars.

The food and service were great. Nice relaxed atmosphere where you can enjoy and talk. No loud music. Complements for quality and freshness of each ingredient.
Our waitress Dipa was very polite and gentle. She was always around for anything we needed. It was very helpful and not disturbing. The kimono dressing is also very fascinating 👌
Also, bonus from chef with complement tasting and mini dessert.

Great ramen, really good service and the whole experience was enjoyable. When you get there, expect to be seated at the table and have the waiter explain what you’re eating and the ingredients. I was surprised he asked us if we have any food allergies, so they are really focused on you having the best time there.
