I read about the Miko restaurant prior to my visit to Cluj, and I must admit that I was more than impressed with the quality of the food and the restaurant's atmosphere, which made everything even more enjoyable!
The hungarian beef goulash that I served was a dream, and I can strongly recommend it, as it's one of the best that I've ever eaten!
Miko Restaurant is a MUST visit place if you happen to be in Cluj, as it's an excellent hungarian restaurant!!!!!!!!
Multumesc, restaurant Miko pentru mancarea excelenta!
Köszönöm, a Miko étterem a kiváló ételeket!

We discovered this place on the internet while planning our trip and it was perfect.
The lady that served us was kind and friendly, the place is comfy and traditional and they served us in a short amount of time.
The goulash was exceptional and the little livers with garlic and cabbage were also very tasty.

I am a Canadian man of Romanian heritage and live in Canada for the past 33 years. I am very adventurous, a real “foodie” and a globetrotter.
I visit Cluj, my hometown 2-3 times every year .One of my favorite restaurants is definitely “MIKO”.
It is located on a side street, quite secluded and yet very close to downtown, away from the big noise, traffic, etc. The restaurant has its own parking lot if small; it also has an open deck and a covered one for warm but rainy days.
The main dining lounge is quite large and very bright. In addition to the usual tables there are a few communal tables for larger parties or “strangers” who decide to dine together. It is very cozy and friendly and there is always a background, very nice easy listening music.
The menu is Hungarian and Central European and there are countless choices of appetizers, salads, soups, steaks and other meat dishes, fish, etc. Some of the dishes are French and I must honestly confess that I had those dishes in France and in the best French Restaurants in Montreal , Toronto, New York ( I am proud to call International celebrity-chef Daniel Boulud my friend ) and yet at least one at “MIKO” was – by far the best one !!! Now figure that out !
There is also a quite impressive dessert menu .The list of beverages is not very long , however it is OK and could easily and appropriately pair any meal.
The food is absolutely more than delicious and the presentation is eye popping. The portions are very large; you see, Hungarians Romanians and Serbs have great appetite and love their food.
The meals are wonderful, glorious, exquisite, sublime, mouth watering, fabulous , stellar!
Considering the above it is a pleasant surprise that this is a rather inexpensive- moderate priced restaurant.
The service is very prompt and extremely friendly .Most of the servers are very young ; they are closely watched by the managers and very , gently advised as necessary. The managers, Zsolt and Judit( both above and beyond outstanding chefs ) treat their staff with utmost respect something not very common anymore... For the very young they act (almost) like parents and we all were very touched.
Zsolt and Judit are very kind and considerate and it is more than obvious that they truly care a great deal about their guests; they will bend over backwards to ensure that everybody is having a great time. They visit the tables and spend time with the guests enquiring about what else should possibly be improved.
Nobody is ever rushed and have plenty of time to chat and eat the delicious meal.
I have been to “MIKO” many times with party of 3-4-5. Each time everyone had a great time. During my visits to Cluj, however short and however busy I may be, I visit at least once if not twice “MIKO” restaurant. For me and my close friends visiting “MIKO” is a must and a tradition.
Best time to visit is around 12:30-1:00 p.m. when it is very quiet .Should you prefer dinner- it would be a good idea to make a reservation and avoid waiting time- especially in the week-end.
I would highly recommend this great restaurant to visitors looking for a great (and inexpensive) meal.
Folks – go for it and I am ready to bet my last buck that you will be happy with your choice.

For a family lunch we chose this restaurant for traditional Hungarian food. The restaurant has an impressive and inexpensive menu. It is a clean and quiet place. Only two tables are occupied. And that's all! The staff of this restaurant is totally unprofessional. We've waited long enough to get the requested drinks. Then we ordered the food. After an hour and a half, when those at a neighboring table that came after us received the food and left, we asked if would take longer and they told us that it will take longer because all the food is freshly cooked. We wanted to pay for the drinks. A lady from restaurant told us that if we want to be served faster we can go to a fast food. So if you want to be humiliated, go there. We left and we chose a really professional restaurant.

A quiet place where you can stay inside, but especially on the shady walnut terrace, friendly service with specific cuisine from various kitchens at an absolutely reasonable price.

I was here after a recommendation of a travel blogger who was impressed by this place. I didn't like the food, maybe the Hungarian cuisine isn't for me. I had some chicken with dumplings and with some strange sauce. The same combination of sauce was made for my husband for his dish with beef...very strange. Disappointing!

We often used to go there celebrating birthdays. It is a cozy place, waiters are nice and the food is wonderful. I loved the soups, and often eat the goulash. It is a place to go to.

The restaurant has quite authentic Hungarian dishes, in good quantities. The ambiance follows Hungarian outlines but not much investment seems to have been made in this purpose.
In our dinner, the noise was quite an inconvenience, there were two very loud tables...

My wife and I first came to this place about a year ago. It was an awful experience. They had some sort of reunion or party or whatnot, and they sited us right next to it. The music was way too loud and they have no ventialtion system for the smoke. We insisted we stay because i remembered the food being good. It wasn't. My wifes meal wasn't cooked properly. We decided never to go back. Having a law that prohibits smoking in closed areas in Romania now, we decided to try once more, but this time we ordered takeaway. I phoned them and placed my order. They said it will take 20 min for the food to be ready. I went to get it since they don't have delivery and surprise: they had no ideea about my order. They said they'll get right on it and it will take another 15 minutes. I don't know how this place is still in business in a high demanding coty like Cluj Napoca. I don't recommend this place to anyone, friend or foe.
