Great place, great atmosphere with many surprises
Had cake and coffee milkshake and breakfast before
All good but late afternoons becomes slow services, especially when crowded. Still wish to try the waffle menu
Very friendly and welcoming staff. Interesting and tasty eats. One of those places where you cannot decide what to try, because there are so many options you want to try. ( those places are rare these days) Definitely a place to visit.
I came to Cordes & Co. so many times over the course of my week-long stay in Swakop that the servers started to recognize me and know my order! Incredible food (try the Buddha bowl, and their carrot cake is simply the best I've ever...had), great, cozy ambience, especially for those cloudy Swakopmund days, and wonderful coffee!More
Went for lunch, arrived and was very impressed with interior and menu! Advertised special was Summer Pasta with rocket, pecorino, tomatoes and olives for N$ 70 with option to add chicken for extra N$ 30, so we decided to order special. Ordered a flat white...and orange juice, when orange juice arrived I received fresh juice and was quite surprised as menu item which I ordered just said 'Juice' for N$26.
Our meal arrived and to our amazement there was no pasta! It was just a bowl full of Rocket with pecorino and about 3 cherry tomatoes. When we queried where the pasta was not even the manager knew what was happening and found out that chefs was not aware of what meal was supposed to be. After our query we received a complimentary portion of chicken to add to our pasta-less Pasta.
Manager changed the special sign after that to a 'Salad' but kept the price the same!!
When we came to make payment, we noticed a charge for N$62 for orange juice on the bill! We queried and were told that is what I ordered. Now you have to understand, I ordered a juice, at no time did the waiter ask if I wanted juice from a can or a FRESHLY squeezed juice. If she had then I would had asked WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE?
We were informed (with an attitude, and may I point out the manager/owner pointed out to me that I also had an attitude) that they put up prices in high season and do not show it on menu/cannot alter every menu item or have the waiters inform customers of price changes. To make matters worse the waiter told me to my face that I lied and she had asked me if I wanted fresh or not, and I think I would have remembered that!
I have worked in the hospitality industry myself for a good 17 years, and that is not how you do it. I don't mind being told I have an attitude.
Moral of the story - ALWAYS CHECK YOUR BILL!!!More
Saw this cosy little coffee shop on someone’s Facebook-page and decided to give it a try - It exceeded all expectations!
I were so impressed with the food & drinks that I forgot to snap some photos for the books; although their schnitzel was a...bit dry the cheese sauce made up for the “blooper”.
If you would like someone healthy, but tasty try the Black Cherry smoothie - more than just tasty, it was indulgent. ❤️More
We bumped into Cordes accidentally for a late lunch. We were caught by the 'best coffee' claim, which btw was also lovely, but more than that- we had a super delicious Budha bowl. Great combination of beetroute, punpkin and quinoa- done in a super tasteful...way. We were impressed! Definitely worth a visit for a bit out of the ordinary namibian menu 😊More
