The worst food in morocco. I sent back the fish tagine. It was replaced by shrimp pastelli that was equally terrible. The fish in both cases was stale and salty- absolutely inedible.

One of those restaurants which seems to offer or promise more than it delivers. A grand looking interior from a fairly impressive entrance and a warm welcome. The menu and wine list had too many unavailable items to make choosing easy and my hopes of having a more special fish dish was dashed at the first hurdle. My wine of... More

We ate at this restaurant on two occasions and it proved to be the best value restaurant we went to on our weeks stay, the service is a little slow but do not be put off by this as it is well worth the wait. Well priced for wine also

La Licorne is a quiet, old style Moroccan restaurant with lots of dark corners and colour. The staff appear to be 100% female both in the kitchen (which you can see into) and front of house. The food we had was mixed, a combination of excellent and average (for Morocco). First the excellent. The shrimp pastilla was the best dish... More

We spent a very pleasant evening in the restaurant. In July, Essaouira smells badly and usually that prevented us from eating at all. But in La Licorne we found a place of good. A clean and very pretty ambience, nice staff and really good but typical dishes made this the best restaurant experience we had in Essaouria. The fish tajine... More

Our riad was close to La Licorne and we came across it as we wandered the alleyways. The posted menu looked good so we decided to try it later that evening. What a pleasant surprise as we entered through the heavy wooden door. The subdued lighting, wooden beams and furnishings gave it a most un-Moroccan look. We were seated at... More

Wandering aimlessly on our first night in Essaouira, we walked by this place, it was empty. We walked for about half an hour looking at menus outside various eating establishments, saying NO to hustlers trying to get you into their eateries (much like rue des bouchers Brussels) We decided to return to La Licornre, it was still empty. When we... More

Great food, the best we had in Essaouira during our short stay. The Fish Tagine was one of the best I had in Morocco. Very helpful and professional staff. Would visit again

Overpriced, over cooked uninformed staff, untrained staff, poor service. Warm wine. Would not want to repeat this experience. Nice decode but I paid for food that was not to great.
