Taros Cafe Restaurant you reach taking more steps up from the main square to the roof teraces of maybe four-five buildings, they connected. It is a cosy creatively designed space where you can sit on different layers and have a bit private atmosphere, too, in...different corners. The interior is a mix of wooden and chic furniture, painted or natural, various lamps and pillows. This establishment has a great overview and view over the square and parts of the old town as well as the bay of Essaouira and the sea with key surfers in the distance. There are very tasty drinks, with and without alcohol, for example pina colada without alcohol is served in a pretty decorated clay pot, which is originally used in Morocco for cooking meat; you can drink from it for hours and enjoy the evening sun. The only downside is that you basically have to order food, even if you are not hungry, but you can postpone it and possibly avoid it. However, this rule should be on a board at the entrance and before the ascent; so the designation "Cafe AND Restaurant" is not applicable; we had asked the doorman downstairs even, if it is a cafe, and he had confirmed; this case, if the place is to enjoy drinks only, should be cleared in future not to irritate tourists. All in all a very nice place with very friendly staff that still needs some flexibility and lower prices for food; after all, it should be very well attended in normal travel times, so choose the visiting times well and let the doorman ask, if there is place up. ;)More

Hello Sarah ,
Thank you for taking time to write a review, we are pleased that you liked the place ,the interior decoration as well as our cocktails .
What you weren’t aware of is that we are obliged to serve food with alcohol by...More
A lively rooftop cafe with great views, decent food and they serve alcohol. Service can be slow when they are very busy but generally the staff are friendly and efficient.
The small indoor bar on the way upstairs is gorgeous and the barman infuses his...own gins which were very tasty.More
We visited Taros Cafe for happy hour/ sunset drinks and then returned later for the live music. The atmosphere was incredible, and it was an amazing place to people-watch.
The view was unbeatable at sunset! The only reason I am not giving it 5 stars...is because the service was awful! They were very rude and overly slow.More
Went for lunch. Beautiful spot with lovely views. Both had one of the tartine dishes, couple of beers and some frites. Food was nice. Service was fine and it was lovely to see the ocean. Toilets also decent.
It was a sunny afternoon with a light breeze. Perfect for an open roof top terrace lunch. The food was good, the location was great. There were five of us and the salads weren’t great but the lamb and seafood were. We were at the...end of two weeks of Moroccan food and that might have had an influence on the choice of foods. That is likely to have been the true source of our food rating.More
We went in the morning and there were 5 employees directly in front of us but no one greeted us or offered us a table so we left.
We came in the afternoon (second chance) when the restaurant was busy but the same situation. Very...Poor service!More
The first night we ate here, they had a great live band who got everyone dancing. The second time they had more traditional music, think whirling dervishes. Food was good as were the cocktails and friendly staff.
