Stopped by with my husband yesterday, decided to dine in. We put in our orders for a pizza, some boneless chicken and shrimp (we had driven up almost two hours without having eaten so we had an appetite). As we waited we overheard some commotion...in the kitchen about propane gas, but at no point did the waitress stop by to check up on us.
After about 40 minutes, she FINALLY stopped by and said “I don’t know if you’ve heard but we ran out of propane gas, you ordered chicken and shrimp, that’s not coming”. We promptly told her no, we hadn’t heard anything since no one has come to our table to let us know. We asked her how much longer it would take for a pizza, she told us 20 minutes.
Needless to say, we walked out. It was probably an off night for them, who knows but if someone had taken the time to check in on us, it wouldn’t have made the experience such a miserable one. They should probably also look into hiring more staff, they had about 3 people tending to 12+ tables and taking to-go orders. People were lined up outside waiting for their pickup orders, one woman walked in asked “is there anything I can order to eat now?”, as if she had been waiting for a while to pick up her food.More
Oakley's has set up a lot of outdoor seating so you can enjoy the fresh air and dinner. During the week, there is not much open in the area and some only have take out so Oakley's is doing yeoman's work in having someplace to...go out. Food is great including the pizza. The place is packed (even mid-week). Because of the limited options for dining, this place is busy and service is a bit slow. So if you want speedy in and out, order and pick up. If you're going to sit, enjoy the outdoors and plan to have dinner at a leisurely pace (cause it's going to take awhile.)More
We were passing through the area for the first time and stopped here for a quick bite to eat. We had their pizza and a couple beers. Pizza was great. Service was awesome. The owner walked around and made sure everyone was enjoying their food...and their time. You don't see that very often anymore. It was great. I would cone to this place all the time if I lived in the area and if I ever pas throug again I will definitely stop by here.More
We went up to the Catskills to get away for a few days and we were told Oakley's had a lot of outside seating and wood fired pizza and sandwichs so we decided to try it as there are very few places to eat in...the mountains.
We sat outside on the patio had a couple drinks and ordered a pizza to go. They have a covered patio then they have also put up a large tent for more outside seating. It rained a bit after we sat down so we were glad we sat under cover. We had stopped inside to see hostess but inside of course smelled like a wood burning stove due to ovens.
We had a great young college girl who was our server named Cora. She was super sweet, very friendly and extremely attentive.
The restaurant is right on the main drag so you can't miss it, it's not at all hard to find.
I would recommend the pizza if you like brick oven pizza. The large cheese pizza is $12 then it's $2.00 for each additional ingredient just keep in mind the crust is super thin so if you try to put a lot of stuff on it you won't be able to pick the slices up and eat them. We had cheese, pepperoni, red onion and jalapeños and we had to use fork and knife as slices were too heavy.
Was a great experience good food simple drinks.More
Been coming to Oakleys for some 20 years.
Have seen it grow from a tiny local bar with bar food to a bigger place that you can go to for a good meal and pizza without its ever losing its charm of a local bar.
Quick friendly service. Great draft beer selection. Try Joe mama's milk stout......magnifique! Chicken sandwich and burger were both great and perfectly cooked in the wood fired oven. A little hectic if you're looking for a quiet intimate place, but terrific for what it is.....a local...bar and restaurant with good food and service.More
Stopped in for lunch while enjoying our “fall foliage” trip. Enjoyed a brick oven pizza that was out of this world! Perfectly prepared and cooked. Worth DOUBLE the price!
Staff was warm and friendly. Seating was comfortable. Great atmosphere.
