We always like to visit the China House whenever we are in Penang. The building itself is charming. We usually come here for their great variety of cakes and pastry, both sweet and savoury. We found out on our last visit that they also serve a good selection of crafted beers. Highly recommended!

Went there 3 times, but still experienced the same bad service of their staffs. The waiter given us the wrong order and yet argue with us. No smiling face, the manager told as they worked long hour. But THIS IS NOT MY BUSINESS.

Organised a surprise birthday dinner for our friend and the restaurant very kindly helped us to decorate the place with the balloons we arranged to have sent over. Ambience was lovely, food was good and service was excellent. The place is very interesting, with different concepts housed under one roof. The restaurant stretched all the way in. Be sure to... We visited on a Saturday evening after dinner for a night cap. The place is massive, and is a collection of small restaurant, bar, coffee shop etc. It was also busy, but we easily found a table in the small wine bar, which is close to the middle of China House. We had a couple of glasses of the house... More

I honestly don't understand what all of the fuss is about. I had to wait for nearly 30 minutes for something as simple as a hot dog (!!), which wasn't that great anyway. The service is awful as many others have pointed out. There is cheaper and better places to be found in George Town. I will not go back... More

Yesterday we went to have 2 slices of cakes,3 drinks and 1 Sangria in the China house. 3 drinks came very fast. Then came the Sangria. Then we waited for at least 30 minutes for the cakes. During the whole course of the meal, i observed that the waiter happily serving a big bottle of plain water to the next... More

Nice atmosphere, but really slow service and, despite the lovely cakes on display, the food was indifferent and over priced. Recommended for coffee and cake, but avoid the overpriced food and fruit smoothies.

We had our tea at this place and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The coffee and cakes served were good. No complaints. :) It lived up to its billing as being the longest coffee house in Penang. I would dare venture to say that it is the longest in Malaysia and possibly South East Asia as it was made up... More

Try the brownie tower, or whatever it's called. Dare you to eat it alone. Good menu and sometimes live entertainment. Highly recommended.
