Yesterday we went to have 2 slices of cakes,3 drinks and 1 Sangria in the China house. 3 drinks came very fast. Then came the Sangria. Then we waited for at least 30 minutes for the cakes. During the whole course of the meal, i observed that the waiter happily serving a big bottle of plain water to the next... More

Nice atmosphere, but really slow service and, despite the lovely cakes on display, the food was indifferent and over priced. Recommended for coffee and cake, but avoid the overpriced food and fruit smoothies.

We had our tea at this place and we thoroughly enjoyed our experience. The coffee and cakes served were good. No complaints. :) It lived up to its billing as being the longest coffee house in Penang. I would dare venture to say that it is the longest in Malaysia and possibly South East Asia as it was made up... More

Try the brownie tower, or whatever it's called. Dare you to eat it alone. Good menu and sometimes live entertainment. Highly recommended.

Four of us ate here twice. China House is a collection of restaurants, a fabulous bakery/cafe, espresso and wine bars and a couple of shops. We ate at Beach St Cafe our first visit and ate desserts from the bakery each visit. They make 50 desserts daily and they are top drawer! Our second visit we ate at BTB restaurant... More

Had a lovely lunch at with my daughter. Food was great and the ambience was relaxed. Serving portions were generous and we enjoyed the cakes.

China House is known for its baked goods and they really are extraordinary. We enjoyed the almond orange cake and cookies as take out, but what really makes this one of the outstanding dining destinations in Penang is the excellent food. Yes, it's got a hipster vibe, but that's not a bad thing here. The restaurant is the width of... More

A fusion of local and italian. The walnut fruit salad is recommended. Service was good too. Cakes look amazing, but i would suggest that the cakes should always be covered as not all the cakes were covered and i did see small flying insects flying above the cakes which were not appetizing.

This Steak comes at about 20 US$! Very small portion! Was still hungry afterwards. Also was slightly over cooked. Corona Beer came in a dirty bottle. Yet the place has nice atmosphere. Next time I come only for cafe and cake. Considering this is Penang the prices are to steep.

Love this place- and in my opinion it's one of the top 2 cafes arnd George Town (pssst, the other one is Awesome Canteen at Sekeping Victoria, which is just opposite the China House's bar entrance)! The variety of cakes... wow. We had a hard time choosing which cake to get! In the end we chose a slice of cake... More
